Consecutive hat-tricks clarification

Well done to Fleminho for bagging hat-tricks in consecutive games but, to clear up Alan's query, he isn't the first Ash Tree to do so.

Beano's wonderful fixture archive shows that precocious talent Richard McDonald, whose career was cut short by an appalling Ash United tackle, scored TEN in two games in the 1997/8 season as follows:

28/03/98

H

Cranleigh

CCL

12-0

McDonald 6, Frost 3, Holman, Kiernan, og

04/04/98

A

Hartley Wintney

CCL

10-0

McDonald 4, Holman 2, Eggington 2, D. Smith, Kiernan

The next season, Tony Nolan managed Dan's feat, apparently with that rarity...a penalty he actually scored!

18/09/99

H

Cranleigh

CCL

4-0

Nolan 3, Frost

30/09/99

A

Metropolitan Police

SSC2Q

4-1

Nolan 3 (1 pen), Holman

Our team are in a rich vein of form at the moment, time will tell whether it results in promotion, but we Ashford fans are enjoying some great football this season.

It was good to see us take full advantage of a Chessington side, who are clearly struggling at this level. We were ruthless in the second half and didn't sit back having built a comfortable lead.

Yes, Alex was lucky to escape a red card, which would have made the game very interesting with Ashford having to play an hour with ten men. Anyway, it was good to get the benefit of a contentious decision for once!

There is a stewards enquiry regarding Flemo's first goal at Epsom. Might be Scott Weights!

Mr Constable needs to investigate to keep the record books correct
