Big J R Posted March 13, 2016 Author Share Posted March 13, 2016 We are now well into the last half of the current season, and since the demolition team did their job, nothing more has happened at the Meadowbank ground, so I thought I'd check the Official MVDC web site. Nothing new on there either and no further statement of any interest from the Surrey FA. Does ANYBODY in authority actually know if ANYTHING is going ahead, and if so, WHEN ? I would be interested to know what Marc White's plans are, IF Wanderers are able to win play-offs and get possible promotion to Rymans Prem . Finally, the Dorking FC people have recognised "the others" as a help instead of a hindrance and common sense has prevailed. There's still a hint of the grandiose in the DFC statement, almost as if they believe they were the drivers behind the idea to share when I think it was DWFC who put forward the proposition. Of course, others on here (including myself) had been suggesting it for a while now. It wasn't rocket science. I'm also not exactly sure what they mean by describing the move as "being beneficial to shops and businesses", as the town is not going to suddenly find an influx of new shoppers, keen to try out the latest shops before going to the football. 99% of people will visit for the football and have a pie and a pint and then drive off home again. It sounds like some sort of spin to me, a bit like David Cameron's latest statement about his renegotiation with the EU being a major change, when it's obvious to all on both side of the debate that it hasn't really changed anything. When I find something suspicious in a document, I question the entire document's validity. But it is good news for the town's football clubs and probably does ensure survival in the short term at least for the original town club and an opportunity to control their destiny once again. JR raises an interesting point about ground grading as Westhumble surely cannot stage Step Three football without significant improvements, whether temporary or permanent, and assuming they go up from the play offs, or indeed are disqualified from taking part in them in the first place will be something to watch out for in the not too distant future.
