The new conference

Can somebody explain in the new set up what happens to those teams relegated out of the Ryman prem this year do they stay in or are they dropped deeper into the mire.

As I understand it they will now be in Ryman one which is really a double relegation.

I`ve seen so many different versions of what is supposed to happen that i`m totally confused now. Also it still might not happen because the Ryman officals are fighting the changes in spite of the fact that most of it`s members are in favour of them. Hopefully we will be going straight up as champions and won`t be caught up in the undoubted mess that is going to happen.

The Isthmian League have (allegedly) agreed to go to arbitration with the FA over their differences of opinion. In addition, their threat to take action against teams who resigned from the League has been removed - but the deadline to resign (without a financial penalty being incurred) was Dec 31, 2003. So did Canvey resign ? Hold on while I check the official website...err, there is no mention of anything remotely relating to this situation, so I guess we will all have to wait for some other website to post news of the eventual outcome of the arbitration/legal action/pistols at dawn. Let's hope it's all sorted out well before the end of the season. Before then of course we and others (presumably) have to undergo a ground inspection by the Conference...

...and let's hope that the previous ground grading was renewed. Last time, when I understand that the renewal was not made, Canvey had to do a load more improvements, including building the mighty North Stand.

It still seems to me rather foolish to make clubs get their grounds up to standard before they know if they have been promoted or not. There have been cases where a club has spent a lot of money on upgrading, missed out on promotion and then found themselves in dire financial circumstances.

Presumably, IF Canvey make it to the Conference (note: no arrogance here although there is a soupcon of confidence) the new stadium will follow on. Must keep an eye on the official website for news of the new ground.

As I understood it, clubs relegated from the Ryman Premier this season would be relegated one level, i.e to the level underneath the Conferences North and South. At the moment, you're in the 'level' of what would be Conference South. You just have to make sure you finish top 13 to get there (which shouldn't be a problem) <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
