5 Miles or a lot less

Should Ashford miss out on promotion our away journeys will be a lot shorter with AFC HAYES, WINDSOR, SPELTHORNE SPORTS and HANWORTH VILLA already under a 5 mile radius some a lot less. Now it seems WALTON & HERSHAM from Ryman and the the Division 1 potential promoted clubs ABBEY RANGERS, BEDFONT & FELTHAM and CB HOUNSLOWwill be joining our league.

The so called longer trips to REDHILL & COVE gone.

The footprint of our league is getting smaller & smaller

Not necessarily so...it all depends what relocations and rejiggings the FA decide at their meeting on 4th May.

Farnborough may well end up dropping two divisions due to financial irregularities and they're in our patch, and North Greenford United could be back with us. Walton and Hersham won't be local next season, as below.

The number of step 4 relegated sides placed in the CCFL Premier next season could have a knock-on effect as to how many CFL Div1 sides get promoted. There may also be sideways movement, with some speculation that Hartley Wintney might be shifted to the Wessex League.

To put some more meat on the bones, Walton and Hersham have apparently been evicted from Stompond Lane (their last ever game there's tomorrow) and they're groundsharing with Cobham next season, in preparation of a move to the revamped Walton Casuals ground which will become a, hurrumph, 'Sports Hub'. I understand relations between the two Walton clubs are frosty at best, which makes for an awkward groundshare arrangement if so.

If Abbey Rangers win promotion, they'll need to double their number of seats to 100 otherwise they could be relegated at the end of the season due to ground gradings. Mind you, the club have done very well to install a 50 seat stand this season and there's no reason to doubt they can obtain another one soon.

Swifty, COBHAM is 8.1 miles from Ashfords ground, not under 5 miles I know, but not too far. i think Farnborough will get clear of a relegation spot meaning only a drop to Ryman One.

I know your a very knowledgeable person, do the reserve teams in Division One get relegated if enough teams from step Seven get promoted.

Maybe Mark of QPR fame could give his opinion.

Hmm, Cobham's probably 8 miles as the crow flies. AA Route planner makes it 17 miles between the two clubs' grounds.

I believe the reserve sides would be relegated if there were enough first teams to fill the CCFL. We're losing one anyway next season, as Dorking Wanderers are groundsharing with Dorking, and Wanderers' reserves will be playing at a ground which doesn't have the necessary grading. That's not to say that, as things currently stand, the CCFL would refuse another reserve or 'development' side a place in Division One if the number of teams in the division is below maximum.
