Gate part company with quartet

And with Goodman and Jolley, that figures gone up to six! Not the sort of news that you want to hear regarding next year

Where exactly does the club go to,to find players that will fill the void ,left by these departures?

Money will be tight next year,so what standard of players will we expect to see?

God help you if they are worse than the lot that played Saturday................

To be fair it was on the cards so not really surprised, concerned maybe, but if contracts are up that's it I guess we move on.  I personally think (and hope) things will be ok next season and it's not always money that brings out the best in a club as we well know from the past year or so.  What's required are hungry, committed players that just love to play football that are treated with respect from both the club AND supporters and the money is not the main issue in coming to MFC.

To a degree I agree with you.I think that all players who pull on the shirt should get respect from club and supporters alike(otherwise they'll soon up sticks and move),but the worrying thing in this day and age(even in non league)IS money :o

With our geographical position,no-one,even in Kent, will travel here, without expecting some sort of remuneration, even if its to cover petrol alone.

If the money's not there, then they wont sign. Simple as. :(

I hope that I'm proved wrong.

Yes NKN, I to agree regarding the money what I should have said is 'within reason' and what the club can afford without going overboard in players wages.  Yes the location is not ideal and travel costs and time to travel is not ideal, but it's not impossible and a successful club will hopefully bring in players that think the travel will not be a major concern and just want to play for the club....so fingers crossed and over to you NB !!!!!!!!

I am sure our wage bill will still enable us to compete in this league, it just wont be on the scale of last seasons of course, but maybe thats a good thing!

Regretfully, I cannot see this happening. The only people would not not be worried about travel (say on a Tuesday night would be the proverbial "London based" players (as most teams in the Connie South are within easy reach).

But we cannot afford these players. No local based player would want to,say, travel to Bath, for a midweek game, especially as he's got to go to work the next day,if he didn't get the wonga!

People just don't "want to play for the club" nowadays. Finally, how do you get the impression across as well that ,with all that's gone on lately, and looking at the ground, that this is a successfull club!?

That's one hell of a marketing project.!

Failing that,we're going to need lots of new sponsors for next season to bring the money in.

As you say, over to you NB(and the rest of the management)

good post NKN.

very valid points.

12 months ago, despite the alleged high wages,TB was saying it was hard to get players to margate-but he was able to 'sell the (Lasletts ) dream-new ground, division one,etc etc.

well that was a load of boxxxcks.

so its left to NB to sell the nightmare-smelly portacabins, relegation battle/low wages etc .

I can see a team being made up of Nikki's mates-players who NB knows ,and he'll call in a few favours-but maybe havent got the quality required.still-any team is better than no team.

equally as NKN says-how are the club going to pull in the sponsorship required ?

How much have ATC fire and Dreamland actually paid the club i wonder, and where will sponsors  coe from next season-who will find them ?

Benefactor quits, CEO *cough* resigns, team avoids relegation by the skin of its teeth. No, there's been nothing to worry about this season.

Rather than be accused of "thriving on worrying"(its a fine line between realism/optimism),I couldn't help but notice, reading a certain forum,of a team not all that far from here(who BGA describes as the "Dark Side" :D ), a comment  started from that team from the county town, regarding the fortunes of the Gate.

Although a lot of it is general p*ss taking banter(which you expect),there was one comment (on page 14)about this clubs' financial position and expulsion from the league. I know you don't believe everything you read in the papers,BUT where did this come from!!? :o

Considering whats gone on this year, thats another one to add to the rumour mill.I believe someone from the club should make a statement regarding this, either dismissing it as rubbish,or coming clean,to clarify the position.

I know we have thanet taxis sponsoring the sand BGA, but i was thinking more of significant shirt sponsorship,so you are advising that is also 'sorted' for next season  then.

and that is thus with who ??

Perhaps my definition of sponsorship is a bit different-i normally associate it with a company/individual handing over a fair and reasonable sum of money in return for the promotion of that company/companies products/trading activity .
