Maidstone United’s first season in Vanarama National League South saw attendances rise by almost 20%.

Average crowds at the Gallagher Stadium hit 2,208 – up from 1,846 during the Ryman Premier championship campaign – making the Stones the ninth best-supported non-league club in England.

Attendances peaked at 3,030 for last month’s match against Sutton United and never fell below the 1,700 mark.

Club chief executive Bill Williams said: “Crowds have increased year-on-year and this season’s rise vindicates the massive investment made by the owners last summer.

“The town has really taken the club to its heart since the homecoming and we are welcoming new fans week in, week out. My thanks to all those who’ve made this season another special one.”
