FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

CANV EFM

Recommended Posts

'ere 'ere Canv. We had a Friday night fixture a couple of season back when we had that huge pile up at the end..............its great walking to the pub after the game knowing that I ain't gotta get up in the morning.

Lets hope Frances reads this thread.

BTW - its not only col u that have this fixtures, loads of lower league clubs do it. Only prblem is that then the Mrs wants to go shopping on the free Saturday afternoons.

Hi,

On behalf of Frances I can tell you that every season we approach at least one opponent to play a fixture on a Friday night , usually for some reason they decline.

Our League fixtures are Saturday fixtures but can occasionally be moved but only IF MUTUALLY AGREED. This is harder to achieve than it sounds. (probably something to do with clubs & fans travelling on a Friday rush-hour)

Rest assured though Frances does take the discussion board points on board and I'm sure occasions will arise this season when we will be approaching clubs for a Friday night date.

She's a lovely lady, that Frances Roche, and no mistake.

I supose the problem on Fridays is the same for all clubs at our level - part time footballers with job commitments already have to allow for a weekday game, say on a Tuesday/Wednesday most weeks, and their employers have to be sympathetic to say the least. An away game on the South coast or in the wilds of Hampshire (no offence, Aldershot) on a Friday night could mean stretching the understanding of a player's employer a bit too far?? Still, next season when we're in the Conference with full-time team it'll all be different.........!
