Rumour on the Chelmsford City Web site

Recommended Posts

Taken from our local paper today:<p>Brown (Derek Brown, central defender) may line up with Mike Bignall (striker) and Rob Smith (left-sided midfielder) for Chelmsford on Saturday, January 26, as Chelmsford manager and ex England and Manchester United full back Paul Parker is a friend of Roberts (Saints manager) and the two are close to coming to a one-off agreement.<p>"We have a gentleman's agreement," Roberts said. "They have two games in three days and from our side, it's just about giving them a game. It's definitely not with a view to a permanent move."<p>Rob Smith is probably who you are talking about. Whilst he's not our best player he's a skilful player who could walk into any Ryman Premier side.<p>Please look after him for us and enjoy it while it lasts.<p> <img src="graemlins/chat.gif" border="0" alt="chat" />

Thanks for putting us in the picture, Rob. I've taken the liberty of "cutting and pasting" your posting on to the Chelmsford City messageboard but I have acknowledged the source. I regret that it seems that we are benefitting from your misfortune. Still, at least it should mean that when you do resume playing some of your players at least will be match fit and can "hit the ground running" as it were. And it does mean that you won't have to pay these players whilst they are "over here". I hope they come through their spell with us unscathed but the Doc Martens is a very physical league. The midland clubs in particular don't seem to take many prisoners and we play Moor Green (Brum) this Saturday and Hednesford the next. Weymouth this Monday won't be a "cake walk" either. Still, at least all three games ae at home (If you can call Billericay - 10 miles from Chelmsford - "home"!)

Good Luck.
