FF News Posted August 29, 2016 Share Posted August 29, 2016 Karl Rose became the first managerial casualty of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League season on Sunday when he left Frickley Athletic. Rose stood down at Westfield Lane after seeing his side suffer their fifth straight defeat since the season kicked off, Saturday's 4-0 reverse at home to Mickelover Sports in the EVO-STIK NPL's Premier Division. Appointed in May 2012 having previously managed Goole AFC for nearly three seasons, the former Rochdale and Barnsley professional resigned after leading the Blues to three Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup final victories in four years at the helm and to a seventh-placed finish last term, their highest ever-placing in the EVO-STIK NPL's top flight. Blues officials, who have now launched the hunt to appoint Rose's successor, say his management team of Lee Stratford and James Dudgeon have also left the club with John Hood and Mick Thompson taking charge of the team for Monday's fixture at Whitby Town. In a statement confirming his departure, Frickley Athletic chairman Gareth Dando said he accepted Rose's resignation with regret before thanking him for his dedication and wishing him well for the future. He said: "We're all disappointed by Karl's decision to leave the club but understand why he made it. He's been a pleasure to work alongside for the last four years and I can't remember a crossed word with him in that time. "He's been a very good fit for Frickley and whilst there have been ups and downs, he's certainly exceeded what has been expected of him. Last season gave all our supporters some great memories and Karl, his family and friends will be welcome back up the Lane any time." He added: "We'd like to wish him all the best in the future. He's left us with a nucleus of a good squad that's out of form but I'm sure the situation can be turned round quickly."
