Dagenham & Redbridge have announced that scholar Tyrique Hyde has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The second year academy scholar who plays in the central midfield area is known for his athleticism and box to box movement on the pitch.

The youngster was heavily involved in the Daggers` first-team pre-season schedule, featuring in several games as well as scoring against Hendon.

Manager John Still said: “We’ve had Tyrique working with us since pre-season and we have all been impressed with him. His Dad Micah Hyde runs our youth system and he was a good player so the boy has a bit of pedigree in him.

“We want to bring him on slowly and he has been with us to a few games, so he understands the running of a match day. He’s a young player who has very good potential so over the coming months people may get to see a bit more of him.”

The 17-year-old will be given an initial one-year deal.

He is the third academy player to sign for the first-team this season after Jakub Berkowicz and Jimmy Shepherd signed pro deals back in June.
