Armthorpe Welfare have announced that applicants have until midnight on Friday to register their interest in becoming the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side's new first team manager.

The search began following the resignation of Brian Johnston last week.armthorpe

A statement from the club explains what they are looking for:

The ideal candidate will have experience as a first team manager at step 6 or above of the FA national pyramid - ideally, experience of management within the NCEL. They should also be able to demonstrate knowledge of the standard required to compete at this level.

Essential skills required:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent man management skills
High degree of flexibility
Commitment and loyalty
Promote good discipline and sportsmanlike behaviour
Willingness to work hard and compete in a league where other teams are often better resourced.
Promote a culture of hard work, playing for the badge and for pride and not financial reward.
Demonstrate an awareness of non league football, and of good player contacts.

Your application will be looked upon more favourably if you have a minimum of a level 1 FA coaching badge or equivalent, but this is not an essential requirement at this stage.

The first team manager will have full control of squad selection with no interference from the committee, and will be responsible for all player recruitment and retention. They will also have control over the hiring of their own backroom team, and splitting responsibilities as they like. They will need to work within the rules and regulations of the FA and NCEL as guided by the committee.

Applicants should be under no illusions that this is an incredibly challenging job that will require the manager to give up their own time. Armthorpe Welfare is a registered charity and as such is run completely by volunteers with no paid staff right through the committee to the players. Everybody works for the love of the club and the love of the game.

The appointment of a new manager is obviously time sensitive and so applications will be accepted by email only. Please email a football CV that includes as a minimum, your name, address, age, contact telephone number, email address, previous playing experience, previous management experience, and current role (if any).

Please also include a brief statement as to why you would like to be our manager, together with any other information that may be relevant. All applications will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Due to the volume of applicants we have received for this role in the past, we may not be able to reply to every application but will endeavour to do so.

All candidates selected for interview will be notified by email. There is no closing date for applications, but due to the need to appoint the new manager quickly, we will close the advert as soon as enough applications are received and so you are advised to apply as soon as possible if you are interested.

Candidates should be available for interview at short notice.

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you.

The email address to send applications to is armthorpe.welfare@hotmail.co.uk.
