Tranmere Rovers announce China initiatives

Vanarama National League club Tranmere Rovers have announced the signing of some major new initiatives in China, following a successful visit by Mark and Nicola Palios, accompanied by Robbie Bigland.

Rovers have announced in the past a partnership between the club and Little London English School in Inner Mongolia, which will see Chinese children coming to Prenton Park for summer camps, and the club sending English teachers to Inner Mongolia for 6 and 12 month placements.

The first group of teachers are due to arrive in Hohhot later this month, but further and far more extensive arrangements have now also been agreed.

In particular, the club have signed a second contract with Little London to co-invest in an international football school in Hohhot.

Following the model of Little London, the school will operate at evenings and weekends, and will offer football training for all ages.

Given that the game is not yet very developed in China, the school will focus initially on grass-roots level training, but it is intended that it will evolve into a full academy offering as the skill level rises.

Tranmere will be responsible for providing the technical content of the curriculum and providing coaches for the school, with Little London providing the administrative and business functions.
