Ash Trees 1 Angels 4

A really good effort by the lads, especially in the second half.

Any tactical plans were dented by a wildly deflected shot from the edge of the box from Luke Allen which gave Tonbridge the lead after 80 seconds. Some lax defending allowed Luke Blewden to head home the second in the 31st, but the lads didn't fold and grew into the game. Some good work by Sammy resulted in three Ashford players taking turns to try and bundle the ball home in the 48th minute and I think Webby won the race. We then made a real game of it and pushed an obviously high level Ryman Premier team hard to the point where we may well have got an equaliser, but a looping header by Jerome Sobers gave Angels the two goal lead again seven minutes from time, and we threw everyone bar Kav up front for a stoppage time corner which resulted in Bledwen being given an easy one-on-one run-in from the halfway line.

The lads kept up the run of scoring in every competitive game this season and, once again, refused to throw in the towel when others might have, and gave an impressive display against very assured opponents. Plenty of positives to be taken.

4-1 was very hard on us, we were the better team for most of the second half. Their tricky No 11 went off at half time, which seemed to change the match in our favour, we scored just after the break and looked as though we were going to take the game to extra time. It was not to be, Tonbridge scored their 3rd against the run of play and then ran in a fourth at the death when everyone went upfield.

In this tie we  put in two very creditable performances against a team flying high in the Ryman Premier.
