Macclesfield Town star Connor Jennings admits that Saturday’s victory against Braintree was an important win after the disappointing result in mid-week.

The Silkmen went into the game at the Moss Rose following a 1-0 defeat against Barrow but goals from Jennings and Holroyd kept Macc’s play-off hopes alive.

Jennings admits that it was a scrappy game but their hard-work played off in the end to pick up a much earned three points.

Speaking after the game, Jennings said: “It was a very important three points after the disappointment on Wednesday night against Barrow, it was good to get the points to keep us in the mix.”

“It was a scrappy first half and even bits in the second half were scrappy too, but we kept playing the way we play by getting the ball down and passing and eventually it paid off. “

John Askey’s men face a long trip to Hampshire today to face Eastleigh but Jennings is hopefully of back to back wins and admits that the Silkmen haven’t been short of creating goal scoring opportunities.

He said “Since I’ve come in me and Chris have been creating the chances it’s just about that final product but I’m pleased for Chris getting a goal.

“It’s a long journey down but we’ll prepare right and hopefully we’ll pick up another three points.”
