I have just returned from a quick visit too the Canvey Island message board. I expect that most of you are aware that it is directly related to this site. I am actually feeling a little sorry for there supporters. They can't get a word in. Its filled with posts from other club fans, many from my own beloved 'Fleet'. Should perhaps we leave them alone. My own sides board gets 'foreign' posts too, but I think not to the same extent.
Should we mind our manners?.

Do the Canvey supporters mind?.

I for one am going to leave them alone to talk amongst themeselves.
More Points...
Attendances in the league games at the weekend were diabolical. Aldershots match at Croydon had less than 300. Whats happened to their travelling army. They play at Gravesend soon. Can we expect only 250?. Is this the end for Aldershot this season?. Has the damage that some blame on Mr Borg reduced the giants to Ryman ordinarys. Or will the new appointment inject new-life and see them win every remaining match and take the title?.
Thats enough..although
Why Mr CANV did you rate me 1...when I have been so nice to u.
It really wasnt very nice.

And the best club in Essex with the biggest potential and future have their own hidden forum here now. Follow this link
http://www.nonleague.net/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=49
And give them a welcome message. They really do need it right now.
Car Jam

mmm well jimjam i actually gave you a 4 but thats by the by... mind your manners? why you havn't so far..

do we mind well i dont i find your stuff entertaining..

leave us alone well you havn't managed that so far this season but i have noticed you have now posted at least twice on your own board.. well done ..

yes attendances were very poor this weekend but we had 5 nations rugger to drag a few sports fans away..

aldershot will i think do well from now on in.. im glad our game at their place is out of the way you have them at home, which i think will be enough of an advantage for you overcome them..

i would say chelmsford have more potential than romford if they can get their ground sorted ..

Yes our travelling army has slimmed down somewhat, but there were a couple of hundred Shots fans at Croydon - which is not bad given the weather; the fact that Croydon's ground is probably the worst ground I have ever been to for watching football (now there's a new thread); we normally lose there; we're not playing very well.

Croydons bad, its far from the worst though. Did anybody ever travel away to the old Ruislip Town, note not Ruislip Manor. That took some beating. One concelation..it had its own pub.
Anyhow, so the weather was bad, does that mean we should see a large away following at Stonebridge Rd.
CarJam

Carjam, I wouldn't worry about "canfan". He displays an alarming nack to wind most people from other teams up and really isn't that informed. Ignore the little "love" and he goes away (although can still make my blood simmer).
On the other hand, CANV and the others make for good discussion and the odd banter, so are generally "good lads" and worthy of a shared beer and caht after a game. (CANV and I have a reputation for "having a go" on both Billericay and Canvey web sites and is one of the great rivalries spoken about some of the supporters at Billericay. The next battle is waited with baited breath).
I did notice the attendances last week and was quite "shocked" at the Aldershot game as to how few were there.
I hope this doesn't effect the 'ricay / Aldershot game as we have a great rivalry...

Croydon, not to be confused with Croydon Athletic, is the worst ground I've been to, anyone going there for the first time should take some binoculars if they want to see the game.

I seem to remember that there is also a certain repore between tha fans of Gravesend amd Aldershot. On the whole they just didnt seem to keen on each other. Have to admire them though, the 'shots' have suffered somewhat over the years.
I take it nobody ever had the pleasure of seeing the ground that belonged to Ruislip Town then. I remember they played Corinthian in the SLSD and the crowd was officially 12.

Wind other team fans up? make your blood simmer? and not well informed? (proof please Gazza)

Gazza now what have i done that has upset you?

And Carjam I gave you that vote when you kept threating to leave the board due to other members sarcasm, I for one quite enjoy your banter which was more then what was made clear in your earlier days on this board by some other members.

"Who am I"? someone that enjoys non league football and the friendly banter on and off the terraces!

As much as I like to talk negative about other teams I'm always one of the first that compliments them on good performences. Especially after playing against Canvey.

Andy, nah, I ain't going soft, just getting into the spirit of Non league footie.
We all enjoy a good game and to be honest I javen't really seen a lot of those down at New Lodge this season. We have been **** and so has most of the opposition so I'm just happy to meet supporters of like mind and share a pint or two. The atmosphere at New Lodge is very much "bring on the new season". Shame but true...
canfan, maybe it was someone else. I'm rubbish at remembering names but I do recall making a "funny" (as is my wont)and getting caned on the NLOTN web site by someone with a similar "name" who's humour was left firmly at home and who's foul and abusive attitude prevailed through out all the messages he replied to me.
If I've offended, I'm sorry.
God, I have gone soft.............................

Quick someone remind me, Canvey Island, a Sugar Daddies paradise..... - lol, lol, lol, lol....

Dear Mr MERV,
Now you have me very worried. Your reply to Mr Crawshaw is bordering on the sycophantic. I read into your comments that you crave his friendship and admiration. For you, who have been so razor sharp in your put-downs of Mr Crawshaw, I now have grave concerns.
Whereas Mr Crawshaw has a subliminal desire to replace his p e n i s with a Jeff King, you appear to want to replace yours with a John Crawshaw. Most interesting.
Suggest you stick to the things you are best at - being rude and crass - and leave this 'Mr Friendly Persona' back on the ward where it belongs.

Well Croydon is hardly the most attractive ground to visit and Aldershot are virtually out of the title race, may pick up though now Borg's gone. I heard a lot of Shots fans turned up at Gravesend New Years Day when the original game was postponed at the last minute, don't know why most games that day were called off first thing or even the night before.

Merv, as you say Croydon is at least cheaper than Park Lane, as for getting there it it a bit out of the way though if you use public transport there's a tram stop round the corner, a tram will wisk you into town in 10mins where there are some decent pubs. Take your point about the bar, though at least I could get in unlike Park Lane, I'll take your word about the burgers I did'nt risk them!
