FF News
The Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's official statistician and historian Dominic McKenzie has been been hurriedly updating his list of records after Tuesday night's thumping 10-1 win for Ashton United at Skelmersdale United. After revealing that league-wide attendances had broken the 300,000 barrier a few weeks ago, the Robins kept McKenzie busy after eclipsing a 7-1 away win for EVO-STIK NPL Premier Division leaders Blyth Spartans exactly two months before by three goals. In EVO-STIK NPL First Division North, Colne's 8-0 defeat of Burscough on Saturday 11 March and Scarborough Athletic's rout of Mossley on Saturday 19 November by the same margin hold the record as biggest wins so far with Farsley Celtic's 7-0 victory at Ramsbottom United two weeks ago still the biggest away win. Leaders Shaw Lane AFC are out in front in EVO-STIK NPL First Division South with the home and away records after their 6-0 win over Leek Town in Barnsley on Saturday 3 December and away at Lincoln United on Saturday 10 January. Appointed last season to keep a full statistical record of all three divisions and pen a history of the EVO-STIK NPL for a new book to mark it 50th anniversary in 2018, statistician McKenzie also spotted a spooky stat in the top flight's record. "Strangely, the largest home wins involve some of the same teams," he said. "Mickleover recorded a 7-0 victory on Boxing Day against Ilkeston and Skelmersdale were on the receiving end of the same score when visiting Spennymoor Town on 11 October."
