Lilywhites extend St Ives groundshare

Cambridge City has renewed its groundshare agreement with St Ives Town.

The agreement which is for one year with an option to extend will see the Lilywhites play their home games next season at Westwood Road. The new campaign that will start in August will be the third season that City have played their home games at St Ives and the fifth the club has had without a home.

After leaving their Milton Road home in the summer of 2013, the Lilywhites previously shared with Histon FC for two years before making the move to St Ives.

City Chairman Kevin Satchell said “Everyone at St Ives has been very good to us over the last two years and we have an excellent relationship with them. I am delighted that this will continue for next season. That said, I do understand the difficulties some of our fans have getting to our home games.

However, St Ives is currently the only viable option open to us so we will remain at Westwood Road whilst we continue in our quest to relocate to a permanent home”.

Satchell also said that despite recent legal setbacks the club was still committed to relocating to Sawston. He said “I know that the whole situation is very frustrating for everyone connected with the club. However, I want to re-assure our supporters that we are working hard behind the scenes to move forward with the project and get it back on track as we all want Cambridge City playing in their own stadium sooner rather than later”.
