CM03/04 Lower League Tactics

Recommended Posts

Has anyone come up with a good tactic which is relatively successful with some of the worse Conference sides? I used to enjoy taking Gravesend up out of the Conference within two seasons, but have really struggled with both CM4 and 03/04 to find a tactic 'simple' enough for the players to understand and utilise well.

Anyone got one which has worked well?

My advice would be to play to your team's strength. I don't know much about Gravesend but if they've got a quick striker, play direct and get him to run at people. If hes tall and good at heading, pump long balls up for him to knock down to onrushing players. And there is nothing wrong with playing negatively, if the oppostion are good in attack, crowd them out in defence and my personal opinion is that the key position in the game is DM as he covers the team on attacks and starts them to so always have a good one. Hope that helped.

You could have been Forest Green AND Slough by creating another save game file !

In the new game though (and CM4), Slough never make a return to the Conference. It's always clubs who start off in the feeder Premier leagues.

Awww crap. Finished third in the league, won the playoffs to secure promotion in a season where they expected us to be relegated. On top of that won the FA Trophy, so I thought I'd ask them to upgrade the training facilities. They didn't so I issued an ultimatum and was promptly sacked. T*ssers.

Only ask for ultimatems if you are so successful they would be stupid to do anything else. Look at real life, if fergie or wenger wanted money for a player, the board would give it to them as they are continually successful but if for example Steve Tilson or such like demanded funds, it would be denied and he would only just keep his job because he hasn't achieved that much consistency. The board don't just look at immediate success, they look at what sort of platform you have been building.

Sorry to hear about the job though as it happens to us all(Read the Daggers Story). But then again thats what makes football what it is and Champ what it is.

Good luck with the next job and make sure you beat them and prove how wrong they are! ALWAYS SATISFYING!!!!! HA HA HA.

Good Luck

  • 4 weeks later...

With GNFC and most lower teams i found playing 4-4-2 diamond with the DMC running to half way line, and AMC running to the center of the forwards, play direct, Counter attack, with a defensive edge on things, untill you get a goal or two, where you turn counter attacking off and just play defensive, but if they score 1st straight away change to attacking with no counter attack. worked for me!

I've tried to play Gravesend two times in cm03-04. The first one was unsuccessfull. But now I could promote from conference to premierleague! just in four seasons. And about tactics... I used tactic which I maid for Man United and United played well with it. I decided to try it with Gravesend and I've already told about my results. I never make tactic for players. I pick players for my tactic and that is the reason of my success. And also I think even the best tactic can't do a lot but good players can help you to achieve good results.

i played with hereford on 03/04. just played it very simple, the standard 442 with the diagonal runs forward and back from centre mid. based my success on specialised training schedules (ie for different positions), and buying plenty of loan players and young free transfers. took me bout three seasons to get out of conference, another 2 to get me up to the second div, and then had enough cash to get out of administration, and buy some decent players. took me ten years or so to get into premiership. good at the time but got boring cos they wouldnt expand the stadium so i was drawing in a massive 8800 in the premiership (and in europe). now im managing chester, and just played a premiership game against hereford. meanwhile man utd got relegated into the conference. funny how the game turns out when all the regenerated players start coming in. ah ive been rambling, time for bed i think
