FF News
Arsenal are expected to include international defenders Kieran Gibbs and Mathieu Debuchy in their squad to face Boreham Wood on Thursday. The Gunners will head to Meadow Park on Thursday night to help the Vanarama National League club officially open their new multi-million pound pitch. The Premier League giants are also likely to name full back Carl Jenkinson and striker Chuba Akpom in their squad, along with a number of prospects hoping to force their way into Arsene Wenger's plans for the new season. In total the Gunners squad will boast a total of thirty eight full international caps. Gibbs has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer, with the likes of Newcastle United and Stoke City rumoured to be interested in left back. France right back Debuchy joined the Gunners for a fee of around £12m in 2014 but has only made twenty three appearances in three years for the club. He spent the second half of last season with Ligue 1 club Bordeaux, making nine appearances for Les Girondins before returning to Arsenal. The game also sees the two clubs celebrate a ten-year extension to their staging agreement that sees Arsenal's youth development and ladies squads play their games at the Wood's Meadow Park home until the end of the 2026/27 season. Ahead of the game Boreham Wood boss Luke Garrard spoke to the club's official website. He said “I am very excited, obviously they are going to bring a competitive under 23s side and we are used to that year-on-year with the Arsenal XI coming here. “It is going to be a special occasion with it being the official opening of the new pitch, so I am very, very excited. “It will be massive to have Arsene Wenger here and the FA Cup is coming as well, so it is going to be a fantastic chance for us to put on a showcase for them. “You look around at the facilities that we have got here now and the new pitch, the dugouts and hopefully we can give them a competitive game. “It is going to be very competitive, I can see that they are going to try and dominate the ball. I can see it being very much like the Luton Town game. “They are full of internationals, so it is going to be quick, it is going to be fast when it comes to possession, I think that it is going to be an amazing work out for the boys.” Article: Mark Carruthers (@marknldaily)Images: Reuters Media Source
