FF News
On Tuesday 1st August Bridlington Town play Humber Premier League side Pocklington Town in the inaugural another Memorial Charity Match at the Henry Thirsk Amenity Centre in Pocklington. The game kicks off at 7:30pm and admission is by programme, which is priced at £3 and will be available at the ground on the night. Donations will also be taken for the nominated Charities during the game and a trophy will be awarded to the winning team. Pocklington Town, who are honored to have been chosen to host the game, look forward to renewing acquaintances with Bridlington Town and expect the same tough test that they had in the East Riding Senior Cup semi-final last season, which the Seasiders won 3-1. All fans of the "Beautiful game" are invited to come along to, not only pay their respects to Tony, but contribute towards good causes and also watch what should be an exciting and entertaining game of football. Widely regarded as `Mr Non-League`, Tony sadly passed away in June 2009 after a brave fight against cancer. His name and spirit, however, live on within the Non-League community and in addition to paying respect to a man who had a massive influence on the development of Non-League football in the pre-social media days, fans can contribute to the funds raised from the game, which will be donated to four very worthwhile charities: York Against CancerMacmillan Cancer SupportThe British Heart FoundationNorth East Autism Society Tony is pictured receiving the Football Supporters Federation Services to Supporters Award 2007-2008 at the York City vs Wrexham FC game on 14th August 2008.
