READY TO GO!

 

It's back, and there is plenty to look forward to on Saturday afternoon, when Town host Folkestone Invicta at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, in our opening Bostik League Premier Division fixture.

 

After all the comings and goings during the summer, optimism is high that Town can make a good start to the new season, with our new management duo Andy Leese and Darren Purse in charge, and an impressive squad of quality close season signings.

 

Be interesting to hear peoples thoughts on how Town are probably going to line-up against Invicta on Saturday afternoon.

 

Folkestone seem likely to be without striker Joe Taylor and influential mid-fielder Micheal Everitt for this match. Taylor has damaged his knee, whilst Everitt picked up a groin strain last weekend.

 

Last season, back in April, Town beat Invicta 3-1 at the QE Stadium. Will we chalk up another win? What do you think? How do you see the outcome?

 

One thing for sure, this is going to be another close, very exciting match. Let's be there to show our support for Andy and our guys, as they look to deliver our first win of the new season.

Having been away for some time I am only catching up with the last few weeks.

 

I see that Kirby has not taken part in many pre-season games.

 

It seems that there has been no mention of Kirby's status for some time, other than he is injured.

Has anyone heard the prognosis as to how long he is expected to be out.

 

It was not until he returned  last year that we started to climb up the table, so I hope it is sooner than later.

 

Also,has any of the old bunch been seen around the door????

Not long to go now!

 

Ahead of a huge weekend of action, with Arsenal playing on Friday evening, and Spurs on Sunday, it would be great to see their Enfield based fans at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium on Saturday afternoon, supporting Town. How about it guys!

 

Good to see manager Andy Leese is still strengthening our first team squad. Be interesting to see how we line-up against Folkestone.

 

Let's have YOUR thoughts and predictions for this match, and how you think we will do this season. Will we improve on last season?

Latest News

 

Central Defender/Sweeper Matt Newman (29) has returned to Folkestone Invicta from neighbours Hythe Town, and will be in their squad for tomorrows Bostik Premier Division match at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium.

 

He was a member of their Championship winning 2015/16 squad, leaving to join Hythe some 10 months ago.

More good news for Town supporters, just released on the ETFC official website. Andy Leese has confirmed that three more players were registered with the club after training last night: Matt Nolan, Richard Hayward, and Adam Martin. Welcome guys!

Adam Martin wouldn't be available for the first 10 games of the season anyway if he recovers from his injury. Picked up his 3rd red card of the season for us last year in the last game for dissent towards the ref. 5 games plus another 5 for the dissent offence.

Pretty sure Andy Leese is fully aware of the players ability and history. Town have a big squad with plenty of options, so there is no immediate need to rush him into the team.

Unable to be there today but Etfc top is on by the poolside.

 

I predict 2-1 with a brace from Gabriel.

 

My team selection would be similar to those above .. I would definitely have Blackman in - and is Noto unavailable as no one has selected him -and I would.

 

With such a newly created squad it is imperative that the fans get behind the team vocally from the start and accept there will be misplaced passes. A vocal crowd could be the deciding factor.

 

I will be regularly checking twitter and this forum so any updates will be much appreciated. Up the town!

Good Morning All

'BIG KICK-OFF DAY IS HERE' !!

About to hit the road shortly for my 100 mile drive to the Queen Elizabeth Stadium. Really looking forward to this match, which should attract a good attendance and plenty of support for Andy and the boys, as they look to get us off to a winning start.

Let's really get behind our guys this afternoon!
