According to the Reporter, he "has not been in contact with the club" - if true, a shame from a footballing point of view, but clearly not so much of a disaster from an attitude point of view.

Did himself no favours in front of a national audience. Probably a good idea for him to keep his head down.
Won't be missed as much as losing Protheroe when his loan is up.

it would be good if we could sign Protheroe up for the rest of the season what are the chances.

That would depend on that nice Mr King.

I've just been looking to expand my garden with a fleet of Jeff's caravans. I'll take 20 if he lets us have Protheroe.

How about it Lord Jeff, most noble baron of the Canvey shire?

I've just spoken to a mate of Lee Protheroe and the word is that he is enjoying life at the Fleet and would like to sign. All depends on Mr King. At worst he could go back to Canvey and come to us at the end of the season as a free agent. I've asked my contact to pass on the positive comments from everyone. I'm sure he will appreciate the fact that we rate him and want him to stay.

Can someone point Lee in the direction of the Fleet Forum. If he reads only half of the good things that are said about him, and realises how highly he is thought of, he may try to persuade that fine manager, Mr King to let him join us.

However the indications are that JK has no intention of letting him go at the moment, hence Lee is not allowed to play on Saturday.

Have we extended his loan period or are we trying to?

Don't be so hard on yourself, Vera. Nothing could be worse than having Jeff King determined to hang on to you!

I once had the honour of being able to tell young Jeff that he was a fat b*st*rd when he refused my request for him to sell us Boylan a couple of seasons ago. He's actually quite a nice bloke and he bought me a beer!

Obviously not after the game where he slipped the guy manning the burger bar a monkey to overload the electrics & blow the floodlights, in a vain attempt to thwart a sound pasting.
