Injury blow for Bamber Bridge striker

Evo-Stik League Bamber Bridge could be without new striker Brad Carsley for up to a month after he suffered severe concussion in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday.

Signed from West Lancashire Football League outfit Longridge Town in July having scored 29 goals last term, the hot-shot was stretchered off and rushed to hospital by ambulance after cracking his head on concrete at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium during the first half of Brig's 3-2 win over Brighouse Town.

Play was suspended for 25 minutes as paramedics attended to the 23-year-old, pictured, who was later released from Preston Hospital and could face a few weeks on the sidelines following his collision with a perimeter fence.

In an update for fans on Sunday, Bamber Bridge manager Neil Reynolds confirmed the player was recovering well and wished him a speedy recovery after his side went on to "win" the Preliminary Round tie for their crocked teammate.

Reynolds told lep.co.uk: "We did it fro Brad and he's okay. He’s been released from hospital but he has severe concussion which medics say can last up to 28 days. He’s had X-rays on his spine and back and that’s all fine. I think he’s had a very lucky escape with just concussion.”

He added: "He wants to get going next week but we have got to wait and see what our medical team say and take it from there.”
