Ebbsfleet veteran Kedwell 'defies sports science'

Daryl McMahon hailed Danny Kedwell's old-school mentality after he took his season's goal tally into double figures on Saturday.

Kedwell, 34, has been almost ever-present up front for Fleet in the National League and has led the line on his own for much of the season following the loss of Darren McQueen to injury.

He scored his 10th goal of the campaign in Saturday's 4-0 win over Guiseley and set up another for Myles Weston to add to his growing collection of assists.

Ebbsfleet boss Daryl McMahon said: "He defies sports science, he defies the new age, he's just old-school.

"Strap him up, give him a painkiller and he goes out and he plays, no matter what's wrong with him. He's just one of those characters, he doesn't miss a day's training.

"He's been an absolute joy to manage. He never, ever lets you down.

"He might have a bad game but it won't be for the lack of effort and this season so far, he's been outstanding.

"He's still got half the season to go and that'll be the important thing. When you do get a little bit older, I think people do look for that second half of the season. Can you kick on through the winter months and come through it again?

"But I've got no doubt he will."
