Tiverton Town put back benefit game for sidelined striker Rogers

Tiverton Town's benefit game for Jordan Rogers has had to be postponed.

The Yellows were due to host Willand Rovers in a friendly on Tuesday to raise funds for their injured striker, who suffered ten facial fractures in October and has not played since.

Yet, due to inclement weather, a big crowd is not expected, and manager Martyn Rogers says the game has been called off due to concerns over the pitch, although he is hopeful of rescheduling in the new year.

He said: "We've had to call off the benefit game for Jordan. The pitch is really wet and we're due a frost, so we've made the decision now.

"The forecast is absolutely freezing and it won't be conducive to a decent gate. To be fair, the pitch could do without getting hammered with the Christmas period coming up.

"I've spoken to Willand and they're keen to reschedule, so we'll have to have a look at the fixtures and speak to Jordan. We'll definitely get the game on but it's just as and when."
