Andy, what do I think?<p>I had my reservations but seeing the great man in the dug out was quite unusual and exciting.<p>He certainly is a character and at times during the game got more passionate than Gary Calder.<p>He certainly is a great coach and I hope he stays at Billericay (did I say that). I would presume that we are putting in some sort of management structure for a big push for promotion next year and Geprge is going to be part of that structure as I can't see him wishing to manage a team again.<p>On a lighter note and it was this that went to some way to change my opinion, he has a sense of humour. We in the "Cow Shed" do like to have a laugh when watching a game and not that he knew but watching him and Calder together, enjoying what they do best, was a laugh. And that is what football should be, enjoyable and fun.

Oh heck seems like Gazza's been bitten by the "Borg Bug" I could be wrong but Borg doesn't play second fiddle to anyone so Calders days must be numbered or Borg will move on soon - I don't see another alternative!<p>Doesn't Borg live down Purfleet way? The cow shed (suitably named for a bull with a big mouth) should suit him nicely while he waits (and waits) for a call from the Conference

<img src="graemlins/abkotz.gif" border="0" alt="[abkotz]" /> Believe me Gazza when I see our management retreating further into the dugout when we go a goal or so behind - I might just for a minute wish we had a more animated manager than Ben - but a foul mouthed oaf who bad mouths players and fans alike when the going gets tough? - no thank you!<p>Having said that Borg might just be the kick up the **** that your players need now but please immunise yourself against the Borg Bug - it will only end in tears (Rod Moores probably as he digs deep to pay to get the man as far away from 'Ricay as possible.)

I'll say one thing - we've got the loudest bench in the league, no question! Personally I think Borg will be a good coach for us - He'll be under a lot less pressure at Billericay than he was at Aldershot and from what I saw on saturday he looks to be enjoying himself. He's a very good friend of Gary Calder's so I don't think there'll be any clashes there, but it'll be interesting to see what he does if anybody offers him a management job. According to the NLP he turned down a post with Boston due to travelling so (at the moment at least) he seems to want to stay local to Essex.

Gazza & Simon, I shall be interested to see how George gets on. Although I wasn't any great fan of his (and eventually found his behaviour more of an embarrassment than entertainment), we did have more good times than bad while he was here.<p>I still can't see him happy as No. 2 for any length of time.

I'd heard a story that he had a management job lined up in a year's time. Don't know how true that is, but it was a good source.

Andy - He's No. 3 @ Billericay (Behind gary and asst manager, Chris snowshill) my feeling is that he's taking a break from the hassles of management. How long (if ever) it will be before he starts getting itchy feet is anyones guess.<p>Dave - I don't think any manager at any level of football has jobs lined up a year in advance "A week is a long time in football" etc etc

<img src="graemlins/diabolo.gif" border="0" alt="" /> I suppose as a supporter of a club he's never managed my opinion counts for little - but you're getting it anyway!<p>If the shotsweb sites anything to go by he received a tidy payoff (ranging from £20K-£85k) so, not short of the readies he can afford a little holiday at sunny Ricay - but if you seriously think he will let another mans opinions on coaching overturn his - then someones deluding themselves - he will never be a no 3 if he's serious about the job - so either he's swanning around til something better turns up or Calder (friend or no friend) is on borrowed time. Irony, we may not be doing well at the moment and this season may have been a pile of poo between November and January for all at Billericay BUT I'm sure you have read all about the stadium plans at New Lodge and the prgressive ideas our management have as regards the future.<p>Now I know things can go astray as regards these plans but think on, don't you just wonder if, as well as getting the ground facilities, the appointment of George Borg (teaming up with Gary Calder) is building the club up for a progressive and successful future?<p>There are teams in our league that either wish to stay at their level OR feel that success to the Conference can be won on football alone with no foundation as to the long term future to the team or ground facilities. I never thought I would say this, as when I first met Rod Moore he appeared to be quite happy being in charge of a middle table club (which Billericay could've become) BUT this season he has surprised everyone in putting together ideas and plans that lay a solid foundation for a bright and successful future for the club. AGAIN, no rose coloured glassess here as we all know at this level, "the best laid plans" can go astray. But you can't blame the club, chairman, management for trying. <p>And the appointment of George Borg is just that. Whereas we have a backer to develop the ground facilities, Goerge's appointment is for the dual development of the team. Even if he is with us for a year, his coaching techniques would've rubbed of on to our management. And if he is with us longer (he did say he wanted to work with Gary Calder for ten years), then power to the bloke and to to Billericay Town FC.<p>I wouldn't say this lightly but, what plans have Braintree got in the unlikelyhood of promotion? (I may sound arrogant here but I don't mean to - apologies) Even if the ideas are hair brained at least you'll be aware that your management are looking to the future...That is all Rod Moore is doing. Putting together a plan for the future. Not just ground facilities but team and club management.

borg is a character and is fun to watch... i cant really comment on his tactical skills but his teams beat canvey more times than canvey beat his teams...his arrival at new lodge will generate intrest and bigger crowds in what has become a nothingish season for the blues...despite that their crowds are up on last year and he could be the man to push riccay up to the next level of 'title contenders' next year.. at least with calder in charge he wont have to deal directly with a disgruntled paying public, but i cant imagine the riccay fans giving him anywhere near the grief the shots did... a bit of a surprise but the more i think on it the more i think the riccay fans will like having him there.. plus he is a character and at this level when fans can get close up to the pitch that kind of thing cetainly livens things up...beastly language aside of course
