Met Police v Enfield Town (Cup)

Main observation was how on earth can a team that gets ten supporters max for a cup quarter final manage to attract and keep such good players .... first half lucky to be 1-1 thanks to a bobbly pitch and some poor finishing...second half played ok well on top when Met had their first attack and scored.... I can see why the police are where they are but there was a lot more promise from us... a good shape and some decent football... not all doom and gloom like recently but disappointing all the same

Thought we played well throughout against tough opponents. Well on top in second half until they scored. Good efforts from Tyler and Sam which might have produced something on another day. Brad Wadkins looked strong and led the line well. Tyler still looks quality. When your down the luck can desert you. The effort was there for sure, keep the support going.

I felt satisfied after yesterday's game. We lost to the better team but it could easily have been a draw or even a win. We were not totally outclassed but the warning signs were there as the first half wore on. We could not sustain the early pace and even in the second half though we were more in the game it was because the met dropped back to defend their lead. 11 coppers in the penalty area towards the end. This left us exposed on the break but a reasonable performance with a lot more passing to feet. We will play worse and win.

Another point. I am colour blind so the only way I could tell the difference between the sides at a distance was the colour of the shorts. When adopting a change strip can we not ensure that there is a reasonable degree of contrast. If met police are playing in their sky blue strip rather than their old navy why dont we play in white shirts!

Left work at 540, got home 1230am, and I missed the first 15 mins inc our goal (heard the cheers as walking round to get in!)

Disappointed with the loss, but as per above don’t think we deserved the loss. Their winner with 15 or so to play was a bit out of the blue.

Impressed with Brad up front, great to see Tyler back in an Enfield shirt !

Samir, Blackman and Youngs all impressed for me as well.

Fair few players came over to thank fans at the end.

Andy has brought in new players and put them straight in.

So disappointed we are out of the cup but the effort was there.

Anyone know why Aaron was missing last night?

And as for Met Police what a bizarre club - no fans, how do they survive at our level!?

I believe the Met Police are partly funded through a Police Association Lottery scheme.

Aaron has had a chest infection recently.

This season is now about making the squad as strong as possible, and putting in place a settled formation and style of play in order to hit the ground running next season and to seriously challenge for a play off place in 2018-19.

Read with interest the various reports and although we lost from some seem to sound a little bit more optimistic as to the future.

It seems that now AL has a plethora of midfielders/forwards to choose from, that unless someone comes a long who cannot be ignored for inclusion into those positions, I hope he now turns he his attention to amending some of his defensive force by adding a little more mobility. It may also mean he has to make some difficult choices and let loose some players in order to keep near his budget

But above all his his aim now has to be at least a mid-table position by the end of the season to ensure we are included in the reshuffle of the leagues. I say this as I have little faith in the FA to adhere to there agreed proposal when the vested interest of certain clubs are taken into consideration. Consequently, it will be in our best interest to ensure that we are as far away from the bottom of the league that we can be. For that reason I don't see our season is far from over CC although I understand why you may feel that.

It would not be the first time that the FA have juggled with relegation rules to satisfy certain members interest. In the past many fourth division club were saved from relegation by the votes of other members. 1986 was a prime example of this when Enfield FC was excluded by the old pals act even though our credentials, ie ground, finances, etc were well above the required criteria.

So lets ensure it doesn't happen again by winning as many as we can.!!!!!!!!!

I cannot understand this ridiculous practice of moving every player to one side of the pitch for goal kicks or throws that side... it cost us the first goal as they left a player out wide and Samir found himself a good twenty five yards away from him... by the time Samir realised the ball was crossed and in the net... a really basic mistake....

Organisation, organisation etc. What do they do on the training ground???? It' s been one of my main complaints, who is supposed to be the coach??? You can't make them all brilliant players but you can teach them to be effective ones. That is always been the role of a manager/coach and on which he should be expected to be judge on.

If whales can be taught to imitate human speech surely you can instil a defensive procedure into players as their go to default position.

When people have referred to what they perceived as my negativity in the past, it this one area, above all, that I have criticised this management for. I have always accepted that getting new players together was going to be a major problem. But now over 7 months in
supporters are still querying what systems the team are trying to play, both defensively and offensively. From what I have read it seems to many to be very ad hoc and made up as the games go along.

As Steph 1 said of Theo's, recent astute observation, " You have noticed too."

The next few weeks will show if any of our concerns regarding the above are being addressed and that, because they are, our results are improving.
