Margate v Town

Great result for Town today against a top-four side. Having gone behind early in the game, it is encouraging that we delivered a never-say-die performance, and earned a point with a late equaliser a couple of minutes from the end. Congratulations and very well done to Andy, Darren, all our players, and all our supporters who travelled to the Kent coast. Let's hear your thoughts on the game guys!

Very grudging Anfield.

To go on a relatively long trip to the south east coast and earn a point I would take any day of the week. We demonstrated a hardness that has been missing for many months. A "We are not beaten until the final whistle" attitude which has been apparent these last few games. A marked contrast to the last time I went to Kent.

Very well done to all concerned you cannot ask for much more than an away point to a top 5 side on an artificial home pitch against a vociferous crowd, but they did go quiet in the last 5 minutes didn't they :-)

Having read the last two post, again in-absentia, I have concluded that probably the truth to yesterday's game lies somewhere between the two. Which means that the Town showed sufficient dedication in their task to earn a respectable draw.

But for me the quote of the match was made by the official Margate ball by ball report. It said

" A cross from Green sees Thomas running on to it BUT he inexplicably dummies it with nobody else there". What is surprising in that, before being unable to watch games live, I saw him do the self same thing on numerous occasions. Some would say that it's part of his all round playing awareness. But why worry he got his appearance money yet again!!!!!

Would have to agree. Not sure why Thomas was preferred to both Liam and Ryan Blake? Both more threatening options in my opinion.

Nonetheless, a good point away from home and pleasing to see us addressing the midfield options with a good signing. Much needed.
