Welcome back Canv - must be finding it a little difficult to fathom the comings and goings at the Ricay!!
I'll have an interbet with you on England -Holland - with half the first choice disappearing faster than than your chance of winning the league (ouch sorry did'nt mean it honest!!) 3-1 to Holland with two from van Nist

I'm back too! Would you believe it - I couldn't go to our game tonight just as we seem to have finally started our season. 3-0 up against Grays sounds pretty good to me and keeps Harrow just far enough off our tails.
I did go to Aldershot on Saturday and thought the 4-0 score was a bit harsh. We never looked like winning but deserved a goal at least.
What shocked me the most though was the complete racism from a section of the Shots fans. It's a very long time since I've heard anything like it inside a football ground. I can't believe these people are allowed to get away with it and aren't thrown out or even arrested - they can't be hard to identify. Are they always so bigoted? They also seemed to be under the impression that Bedford (a town of 100,000 people) was a suburb of Luton for some reason. Baffling.
The ref also had a shocker but then doesn't he always?
Crikey - it's 4-0! Time to get involved with some alcohol methinks. A happy day at last.

Baldy and CANV on the same message link!!!
Heaven for all us who like a bit of banter.
How the devil are you both? CANV, don't listen to Irony, he's worried that in the next couple of seasons Billericay will become the team for Essex and his bunch of farmers will fall by the wayside as they try to jump start the club tractor (lol, lol - banter, Irony, banter).
Where have you been CANV, it's been quiet. I've even put together a "reasoned" argument whilst you've been away.
Anyway, good to see you and Balders back.

i think bedford have turned the corner now and will almost certainly stay up this season..i like the club/ground/fans and think they have the potential to do well soon..knowing my luck we will welcome them to park lane on the back of six straight wins

You're right Canv - we do appear to be on the mend at last. I still think the way we have played all season hasn't been like a bottom 3 side - just look at our goal difference compared to all around. We've never quite recovered from losing our first 7 games of the season - all of them by a single goal.
The signing of Derek Brown from St Albans to shore up our defence has certainly helped although they now apparently want him back.
We're slowly building for the future. Ambitious ground plans and the like. Just the money to find then I suppose. And perhaps a decent player or ten.

Nine goals in two games! I'm still feeling a bit dizzy from it all. If we beat Croydon on Saturday then we might even start creeping up the table.
I vaguely remember early in the season making some comment about most matches being meaningless after about November in this division what with the 1 up, 1 down situation. I'm feeling about ready for some meaningless games now.
I still haven't looked much above about 17th place so I've no idea what's going on up there really. I get the impression that the Aldershot fans singing "We'll never see you again" might have been mistaken. Splendid - they were such a nice bunch too.
Up the Eagles!
