Today's game

Recommended Posts

Good result today, well done the lads.

First half played some good footie and more than deserved to be leading at the break. Although we must start putting games beyond reach and finish off more of the opportunities created.

The late tackle caught Skinns' high up the shin and the player deserved to walk but Walshe's reaction was a bit OTT and picked up a needless booking. In fact, a few players on both sides were just as bad and even the ref jumping in, as he did, exagerrated the situation more.

Second half not so good and too many touches taken. So many attempted thru balls seemed to hit Halifax players. Great to hold on for the 3pts but so nearly threw points away again. Provs was my MOM.

Have to do something about 2nd half performances though. Ady's programme notes mentions the half time 'talking to' given at Chester, I would like to know what's been said at HT for these past few games, we seem to be a different team and a few heads drop. Just don't understand it!!

Guessed Wilko had dislocated something and it was clear to see, as her walked down the tunnel, his little finger sticking out at a rather peculiar angle. Understand he went to hospital for that nasty reset.. ouch!

Well done again Fleet and the Pirate.

Shame FGR won but at least they dun over the mighty Chester!

I've never had access to a PC with internet connection until July and that's my personal one. Some of us have to work for a living, you know.

Work?? Sorry, I didn't mean to swear, mate!!!!!!!

Oi mister!
Tonight at work has consisted of:

sorting out the last few trains, sorting out the stock in the sidings, recording all the station announcements again to account for the closure of Strood/Higham tunnels and only now at 04.55am am I about to update the prediction league!

Of course, I could leave the prediction to do at home but I now have an hour to kill until I go home!

Still.....roll on 6am.

You'r lucky to get an hour off on ights Daz. I start a week of the buggers on Monday and I don't even get a half hour meal break!!

I digress. Super performance today. Thought the passing was sublime in the first half. Even Wilko got in the act, I can only remember 1 hoof down the field, 1 bounce and their keeper only just reached it.

The distribution from the back was first class- all seem to be taking a lead from Protheroe, who looks more and more like a football league player. Great game by Skins, although he must have felt like he was playing for a different team, horrible route 1 football before his injury, stylish, classy passing on his return.

Sheaer and The Duke looked immense again today.

All the midfielders have learned the lesson that they have to drop short and look to receive a short pass.

Rob and Louis worked their socks off today and deserved "their" goal, well crafted and nicely finished.

Life seems to be getting better with Haworth able to easily form a partnership with either Ben Abbey or Louis.

Only 2 gripes.

The lino on the main road side - what WAS he doing. By my count, and by those around me, he miised at least 6 blatent offsides - especially at the end when Halifax played 3 quick players up front.

Secondly, when this was happening, we did nothing different, and looked very vunerable for the last 15 minutes.

Why didn't we drop a quick player in deep to cover as sweeper ? A) it stops them playing up tight to our back 4, and B) even if they do spring the offside trap or the lino doesn't put the flag up, we still have a pacy covering player.

Lee Gledhill took on this role without asking at the end and all credit to him, capping off a fine debut. At last some real competition for Matt Lee.

Hope Wilko's little pinkie gets better soon, looked a bit painful !!

has nobody noticed that against margate, and yesterday we were a better team without walshe.ok he is a good player, but too many times he runs into blind alleys. the team should be:

Wilko

Gledhill(based on 1 game)shearer,mooro,skinner

protheroe,mckimm,perkins,drury/owen,

haworth,evans/abbey

Shearer was by far the best player on the park yesterday, kept us in it at all times. What a save, and his headers were sublime.I cannot understand why he is not leading the mom vote.Prothers was good but made quite a few mistakes.Shearer was awesome.

Protheroe was excellent today his distribution is better than anyone else in the side and he played well in the midfield alongside McKimm. Gledhill looked ok and it was great to have Skins back.
I made Rob Haworth my m.o.m. for sheer effort.
Louis played well and got the goal but we still need to sign a couple more players... a striker and Lee Protheroe.
I know Walshe went off injured but I thought he and Drury were dissapointing today which is a shame as they are the flair players in the side.
Chris Moore, 4 goals in 3 games only on the bench, me no understandee!

I didn't find Drury disappointing yesterday. He created a couple of good chances for Haworth in the 1st Half, and made some good runs in the 2nd including the cross for the Haworth disallowed goal. A goal we'd have all been raving about if it had have counted. Feel we could have used him a bit more out there on the right where he had acres of space. The commentator on RK yesterday said we have a lot of quality in midfield, and I think we're very fortunate to choose between Owen Mckimm Perkins Walshe Drury and Protheroe who was my MOM yesterday. Believe Haworth is suspended against Stevenage so we desperately need someone upfront.

I can’t help feeling a sense of fear and dread whenever Wilco leaves the pitch. I was standing behind the goal and the injury seemed to be self inflicted when he punched the ground after failing to save the corner. May be wrong though!

I'm the same, however I do think that O'reilly is a capable keeper at this level, allbeit he makes a couple of mistakes. I think that he needs to learn a bit more then he would make a decent conference keeper. Is it just Howarth out against Stevenage (apart from Abbey)?

after reading the report in the n l p I wonder if the reporter actually came to the match unless it was on the halifax coach

The reporter was there, it was our very own Gary Hitchcock from the Reporter, would you like his e-mail address so that you can tell him personally how bad his report was?
