More Asylum seekers on the way in May

Recommended Posts

.......It appears Blair and Blunket have, for reasons best known to themselves (could it be they want their votes), have relaxed restrictions on tens of thousands of Slovakian Gippos coming to this country.

How bizzare when we are alledgedly trying to cull the influx. Why does this government self-create a problem, why relax the restrictions. I can only think my thoughts in brackets are why.

Isn't it time to say "enough is enough" Whatabout a demo through London of normal people, to show our disgust at the way this government is selling the soul of this country.

"slovakian Gippos" very liberal of you.

That reminds me i must remember to put the sign up all Asylum-seekers welcome in Upminster, Romford and the rest of Havering... I didn't think that Asylum seekers got the vote as they are not British nationals ???

It just like the countryside demo where it was hijacked by "pro-hunt" lobyists this would be hijacked, organised etc..by extreme right wing groups, if their was a march i'll see ya their walking opposite on the side of the persicuted.

UV23 just how many other countries do these poor misfits have to travel to get to us

Like you I agree in open door policy BUT ONLY WHEN we can treat our poor when sick, educate our children and give our senior members a pension they have paid for but are not in receipt of

When we have a maximum class level of 20 pupils, when our NHS waiting list is at an acceptable level, when the basic pension at least equals the minimum wage then and only then should we look beyond our borders

I will take any bet you like that the above is the general view of the majority which like all majority views under this government will be 100% ignored

You mean like all the demo's that are hijacked by the extreeme left "rent a mob". What you are saying is that it is ok for your lefty types to demonstrate, but when the average bloke in the street is getting persecuted by this government he should just take it on the chin.

If you think a further influx of outsiders is going to move this Country forward then fine, but how are we going to fund them, please do the maths for me cause I can't work it out!

There is nothing wrong with lending your support to those who have experienced some kind of hardship, but be careful that it is only those who have actually experienced persecution and so on. I'm sure it was an accident that you did not say GENUINE asylum seekers. It's just your statement could be easily misinterpreted that you support any one trying to enter this country without question - now that would be madness!

Also your wording seems to suggest that asylum seekers are welcome without question in the areas you mentioned. The thing is though that I suspect that there are certain people in those areas who may not be so welcoming, you seem to want to avoid a debate in favour of speaking for those areas as if your opinion is the only one that counts - that's facism and should be avoided at all costs.

First things first, Their is no such thing as a bogus Asylum seeker they are all "Genuine" everyone has a right to claim asylum, whether they are given it is a different question ,as for saying that accepting them all is madness so it tarring them all with the same brush (not that you have).

How are we going to pay for them ??, the same way in which we should to improve the NHS and transport systems higher rates of tax on those that can afford it...the highest earners.

My point is i welcome them to my area not that everyone welcomes them it was an attempt to get Boroman going, you claiming that i am using facism is rubbish, i listen to other opinons but it doesn't mean i have to agree.

Lefty Marchers, no i hate anti globalisation rallies they are often agresive and unfounded. A side note I don't class myself as left wing, i can think for myself and don't let myself be fooled by the cr@p in the papers.

Pabird makes a good point, what about the other countries... to me it does not mean we are a soft touch but that the other countries are not as caring and don't give a fig about anyone but their own.

But on the side of the NHS and pensions for those we should blame the government not Asylum seekers.

wow!

Hate to disagree with a fellow Urchin but..

WHAT A LOAD OF TOSH!!

God so many points you have made I dont know where to begin!!

(sorry but I feel very strongly about so called "asylum seekers")

Firstly before you all jump on the cart and call me a racist..I do not blame these people for wanting a better life for whatever reason, I am just sick to my back teeth that they are let in to MY country willy nilly.

Ok..government lets them in, houses them, gives them money so they can buy name Reebok or Nike trainers, Cars and god knows what else.

I dont know about you but I WORK to pay my mortgage, council tax, NHS, road tax et.c.

Why should I have to pay to clothe, feed, and house someone who takes the pi55 out of us on a regular basis?..Been in the centre of barking lately??? It's become a no go area because of the constant muggings by "asylum seekers"..Who run's the prostitution/drugs racket in London now?? Eastern European "asylum seekers".

I moved away from the area where I was born because I was fed up with the dregs of the Earth being herded there. You think its fun to take your children to school where they are English but are now in the minority??You think it's nice to welcome people who spit on the floor of your childs playground??(saw it on a regular basis)You think its ok to have one of your friends kids mown down by an Eastern European asylum seeker in a BMW, not registered, taxed, insured, MOT'd and just disappear??

It wouldnt be so bad if they showed their host's some respect but what do they show? DICK..thats what..and to really rub it in..I have to bloody pay for this privilege.Oh..and guess what?..I move out..and now they are planning to build hundreds of new homes where I live..to be filled with what?..yep..you guessed it!!..No new schools or hospitals mind..just houses..paid for by the tax payer to be given to the ungrateful.

Just one small point ...I took my kids to school one day only to find it shut because it was Guru Nanak's birthday. WHO?????? on asking how that affected my kids I was told the school would be empty because the muslims had that day off..After further enquiries, I found that it also shut on a few other occasions (Diwali????) therefore affecting my childrens education but you wanna know what really got to me?? I asked the head teacher, an English woman, if they would get St Georges day off and you know what? She didnt even know when it was...how's that for patriotism?

I only hope one day I get asked to fight for my country ...I will simply say...Mr Prime minister, I dont have a Country...you gave it away...remember??

Just one more point for you Urchino..I didnt realize you were so young..I would like to see if you have the same views when you are struggling to pay your mortgage/council tax/weekly shopping bills,et c, trying to get your children a better education..then watching some filthy dirty pi55ing in the street, ignorant father of a family of 8 living the life of bleedin Riley on your 25% or 40% at source. (I know..I see it every day and it makes my blood boil)

My guess is you wouldn't be so welcoming.

Totally agree with good points from both EMHdad and pabird.

I'm sick off certain people reacting hysterically towards anyone who wants a sensible debate or discussion on important issues which directly effect tax payers. Surely until key services, crime, education standards and so on have reached acceptable levels in this country then it's absurd for us to even consider increasing expenditure on more asylum seekers from EU countries or otherwise - and this is only from a financial point of view, there's also moral and tolerance issues which are connected that never seem to be mentioned.

I still feel that if they were in genuine need of asylum then they should be settling in the first safe country that they arrive in. Why is this not adhered to? Is it because they see Britain is an easy target and British people as a soft touch?

As for special treatment and concessions for immigrants and ethnic minorities…well lets just say that we best leave it there!!! <img src="/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

A lot of them are not Asylum seekers, they are economic migrants, same as you or me wanting to go off to Aus or SA etc. We try it but sometimes we get knocked back.

That's life.

What is going on in Slovakia that makes these people want Asylum anyway?

I would hazard a guess that the majority of the people leaving the UK, each year are bound for either Australia or Spain, with a significant amount also to New Zealand and Canada. The thing is to gain access to Australia you need to acquire a certain amount of points, and prove that you can add something positive to the country without expecting handouts. In order to move to the other countries you would probably need to have sufficient funds to support yourself. So what that means is that in exchange for the qualified tradesman and financially sound people leaving the UK who do not provide a burden on our already struggling resources we are receiving thousands of people who have very little or no money and nothing to add to this country but will expect support, benefits and so on - A bit like a football club loosing a few of it's star players to the bosman ruling and replacing them with less valuable, injury prone players on higher wages who offer nothing to the team!!

My suspicions are mate that a contributory factory is not what's going on in Slovakia that is making them want to leave more a case of what's going on in this country that's is attracting them here - improved standard of living and so on (read generous benefits, nice little council house etc).

Also what is worrying about this influx of people is that if reports from Slovakia are to be believed then the type of person we can expect may not be the kind of guest we would welcome with open arms - I'm sure this doesn't need explaining.

If they really are being persecuted in Slovakia then surely that is a case for the European Union to investigate, rather than many thousands of Slovak gypsies pouring into the UK when let's face it, you could probably write the names of the people who want them here on the back of a postage stamp.

Like I said previously, were being taken for mugs and unless someone in authority takes note and attempts to make amends with action and not hollow words then there will be untold problems in years to come.

Someone told me that the reason why the USA will now charge for visas and have a stricter administration policy is because they are worried about "assylum" seekers from Britain making their way over there. It's not just about terrorism.

Sorry, I don't buy a newspaper during the week so I don't know if the right-wing press have been saying this, and that the person who said it to me picked up on it from them. [if you know what I mean]

As I have stated on another thread, when these eastern European nations join the EU their citizens can come and go in the UK as they please!
Not questioning whether or not this large movement of people is legal, it's quite clear that unfortunately it is and these people are only taking advantage of the situation. What is being questioned it the effect this influx will have on our country and what repercussions this effect may trigger.

The bottom line is that this country is not doing anything about this eminent influx this whilst other EU nations have measures in place. Like most things in this country it is the fault of years of poor governments and terrible politicians and the problem of hard working and law abiding British tax payers - doesn't' sound fair does it?

The powers that be are gambling like never before and the consequences do not bear thinking about.

I have been here 3 years, payed thousands in forms and form filing, and my status is a Resident Alien, and could take another 10 years before i become a Citizen, even though i am married to an American. President Bush announced recently that he intends to grant Citizenship to all Illegal Aliens that crossed the borders from Mexico and South America(lots of votes i guess), so it is not only British people that are being hard done by.

Anyone see that fukwit Blair on Newsnight last night? This is related to the above posts so please read on...

As everyone knows, he wants to charge students a fee for their education (in place now) but wants to allow universities to increase the fee as they see fit.

He then wants students to pay for their fees out of their maintenance grant - which is not a "grant", it is a "loan". Therefore, what do students have to pay for their maintenance? He claims universities will give out burseries...which is bollox as I attempted to claim a bursery for my post-grad work (being a single-parent and having a disability) and was told that there was no money "in the pot".

Lastly, he claims that the new loans will have a "generous rate of repayment" - but as far as I can tell, graduates will have to pay their loan back, as well as receive a higher rate of tax when they attain a salary of £20k p.a. [Which is actually not that much in the south-east]

Despite being questioned by the audience, he didn't clarify the inconsistency.

When one questioner asked him "Why couldn't education be paid for from direct taxation as it always had" he couldn't give a good answer. Just shrugged his bloody shoulders.

I ask, where's the money gone/going to?

Wars in Iraq I suppose.

So, if we are so skint in this country, that we cannot afford to fund the education of our future doctors, engineers, scientists, writers, and anybody else who makes up the fabric of our society [tho' Media Studies loafers can sof off!] then how can we afford to pay for anyone else coming in?

Rascist...No! Realist...Yes!

If all the road tax collected was spent on the roads, Britain would have the finest roads in the world. Same applies for Health, Education and everything else. Sure a lot of tax payers money goes to fighting in Iraq. The main part of your taxes goes to the rediculously high wages claimed by Members of Parliament. I well remember being told the Government wage capped everyone to 3% and then gave themselves a 18% pay rise.

With only 300 odd MPs I think you'll find that their wages do not really have any impact on the Treasury. however, we have an over-weight civil service that needs slimming down dramatically. We have too many senior administrators in our hospitals earning too much. We waste millions on enquiries for this and that and spend way too much money housing prisoners (I understand that Shipman had a telly in his cell!).
