Pinnock, Abbey or Evans?

Er... Roy's a bit famous, but his record of appearances down the years isn't impressive. He's gone Wycombe, Barnet, Bishop's Stortford, Billericay, Grays, Bishop's Stortford again with only a handful of appearances.

Not that I'm putting a dampener on things (!), but we probably shouldn't expect him to be a world beater... and you can bookmark this thread and throw it in my face when he scores on Saturday and ends up with 15 goals in April!

We need a permenant front two, so I would say that it would have to be HAWORTH and EVANS playing upfront, with Drury and Walshie (when he's fit) feeding in from the wings. we have a side that's got pace, but by playing Abbey, it's as if we only have one striker, because he is small. He may be quick, but he needs to work on his skills in the air to retain his place.

A ladder maybe??

We have a little joke going that I will eat my gloves when Ben wins an aerial challenge.

I still have them <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

However, with his size, you cannot expect him to win balls against big centre backs.

He needs to feed off knock downs from Rob.

Funnily enough, FleetFanatic, every time the criticism from the anti-Ben brigade seems to reach its peak, he proves them wrong - his well-taken goal against Weston-super-Mare being a prime example.

Yeah, he probably could get away with knock downs from Rob, but a couple of times when I've watched him, a ball is knocked down to him, and he just leaves it. He's like Che got to be towards the end of his fleet days, wanting the ball to feet all of the time, not being prepared to work for every ball. Yeah, he's a good player, but Louie has the better partnership with Rob, as they both play in the same style.

ZZZZZZZZZZ !!!

Oh....sorry...me again....just dozed off

I have said my bit since the start of the season, so am a tad bored with saying it again...and again !! So "sod off " you may say ??

Well, that is an opinion that you are well entitled to....but....

, at the risk of repeating myself :-

1 - Regretfully, if Abbey wasn't playing, then some other poor B'stard would get it in the neck !

2 - Abbey is not a bad player ! ok...so not Thierry Henry, but if he were, then he wouldn't be with us

3 - A more broader issue, whilst respecting the right of the individual to voice an opinion, surely it would serve a more fruitful purpose if a bit more encouragement was voiced ?? and not verbal assisination of one or two ( or three ! ) players.

I could go on....and on.....but at the risk of sounding liked a tired boring old record ( which I do !)I'll shut up !!

Regards,

Over and probably out !!

I agree with everyone who is for ben Abbey. He and Howarth have more experience together and should be the first choice against Exeter on the 7th. Look how good ben Abbey was against Woking, both Margate, WSM (a good goal at least) and Chester away. Definately keep this partnership for Exeter.
