Performance enhancing drugs in Sport.

Recommended Posts

Should they be "legalised", seeing as their use is so prolific [apparently].

No...I'm not talking viagra...as a stiffy might be more of a hinderance when hurdling, or playing snooker. <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Couldn't they have a two-tier system in the Olympics?

Example:

100m sprint, hereafter known as the Ben Johnson Stakes, for all those on drugs.

100m sprint for "clean" athletes. Anyone found guilty of using drugs in this group is immediately banned for life.

The fact that drugs are banned in sport has led to the fact that people taking part in sport cannot be treated with the same medicines as other people. Surely this means that they are no longer being treated in the best way available.

Drugs which are designed to enhance sporting performance irrespective of the health of the sportperson should in any case remain banned.
