BEST KNOWN NON LEAGUE CLUBS

Recommended Posts

yeah I know, just thought i would do that though.

Ok, if i have to be serious.

Obviously you would not include any X Football League Clubs that come down when re-election was scrapped.(From Football league)

So my teams "BEST KNOWN" would be:

Woking.

Stevenage.

Accrington Stanley.

Altrinham.

Enfield

Yeovil (but now they are football league, probably does not count)

But do you honestly reckon if you went into Arsenal or Westham (whatever) there fans would of heard of St.Albans or Stevenage.

It is probably harder for us to judge, as we hear these names all the time.

But a real test would be to ask a supporter of a Premiership club, Stevenage played Newcastle so with the Keegan toys out of the pram in the memory, i think they would shade it.

Well done MattSTFC, i was gonna mention Blyth Spartans. In 1978 the only 2 non - league clubs left in F.A.Cup were Enfield and Blyth Sprtans. In the 3rd round draw both teams were drawn together, With Blyth winning 3-0, then goning onto and beating Wrexham.
Not strictly right there fella. Blyth 1-0 Enfield with Alan Shoulder the goal scorer late on (I was there mate) , And Blyth lost to Wrexham after a 1-1 at the racecourse ground the replay which was played at St James's park in front of 42,000 saw wrexham win 2-1.

Thanks to all of you for remembering Enfield when we was one of the greats of the non league game .

Why has nobody mentioned Pegasus.

They hold the record for attendance in the final.

Pegasus", of course, is a famous name in non-League football. The team formed from Oxbridge students by Harold "Tommy" Thompson in 1948 – he said they would beat any amateur team in the country – won The FA Amateur Cup twice in the early 1950s, playing before 100,000 crowds at Wembley. Dad saw them beat Harwich & Parkeston 6-0 in the ’53 Final,
