Predictions for the league/league cup

Well Bowers were nothing special whatsoever...We beat them in the cup at home 3-0 and away in the league 5-1. The only reason they are up there is because they got wins playing the so called poorer sides in the league. They only beat Sawbo 2-1...drew with Walden 2-2...in the last minute ! and there are a few other unconvincing wins and draws.....

As for Southend.......No we haven't played them and they are a bit of a bogey side for us to play however their results have not been to convincing either.....with the exceptions of a 2-2 draw against yourselves and a couple of other good wins like in the vase they reguarly slip up against the lesser teams....3-2 defeat at home to Ilford...1-1 with Barkingside.....2-1 defeat at home to Hullbridge.....

Unless they start hitting form it really will be a two horse race...

See ya

OK then, bearing in mind Greg's comments on Southend, and their results seem to bear him out, my prediction is: ETFC, Burnham, Leyton, Concord, Southend, Stansted, the other teams beginning with B, then the pack.
Woodford bottom I suppose but I haven't seen them yet. If they carry on improving and playing like the last two times they played us I can see Eton Manor getting a respectable mid table postion.
I trust howls of protest will follow! grin.gif" border="0

Good call that Mr Invisible.....Burnham second...

They had a poor season last year and an even poorer start but they appear to be turning things around...

Currently 5th.....and improving...

But i still think its between ETFC & leyton...

Woodford.....I understand a completely new set up has happened over there....

New chairman...manager...team etc...as i understand it....a good side out of canning town....unfit but they do have some good players....time will tell eh..?

See ya soon

In a fit of gloom and despondency after last night's inexplicably atrocious performance, I'm tempted to revise my prediction!
To add insult to injury we didn't have use of the main bar at brimmo and had to slum it in the Downs Bar - which means no burgers! So we are firmly at the foot of the Burger League, with only Sawbridgeworth (who don't sell burgers ever) and Lyeton (expelled) below us.
We haven't got a competetive game on Saturday to help expunge the memory of it. I just hope this was a one-off and we'll get back to form qiuckly. frown.gif" border="0

But what about those rumours of new signings, with possibly a new player for the friendly on Saturday? I had the impression that there are attempts being made to strengthen the side for the second half of the season.
Since Enfield Town and Leyton appear to have completed half their league matches, congratulations to Leyton on winning the 'half way championship' or 'Autumn Championship' as they prefer to call it in Germany.

Let's hope they do sign and sort out the wide open space where the defence should be!
As you weren't there last night Colin, you won't know that in the first half a new formation was experimented with, with 3 at the back (Brad, Snowden and Snowshill) and with, as far as I could make out, Henderson and Everitt as wing backs. Suffice to say it didn't work! We conceded a bizarre goal, not even a shot, which Chopper seemed to think was going to trickle past the post, but it hit the post and rolled in. We also had a superb goal by Alleyne ludicrously disallowed for offside, although he quite clearly was not offside as he actually spun his marker when receiving the pass (from Clarkey I believe). However it has to be said the half time score of 0-1 was not injust - flattering to us if anything.
We reverted to 442 for the second, Allen and Volcan on, and started well, but the keeper played a blinder and we did lack ideas in the last third. We also passed to them as often as our own players, and the defence got dodgier by the minute. Concord hit the post twice in about a minute at one stage, and but for some hastty finishing could easily have scored two or three more.
C'est la vie. I can't make Ruislip on Monday but I'm looking forward to White Notley.

Morning Gents....

Just thought i'd pass by with a few comments...

Whenever I have seen your lot play.....They seem much more effective in a 443 formation......Danny Clarke And Kev Reiley up front with Jamie Morris behind them........Brad Quinn who i know from Walden......is NOT a centre half but a good midfielder.......and I understand that Kev Reiley is playing Left Midfield..!

Kev and Brad won the league with Walden in their respective positions......Why change it......I am no manager and maybe you are saying who is he to judge Jim Chandler.......but i have seen you boys at your best playing in the above formation etc etc

Anyway.....just thought i'd pass comment......

see ya

Basically I think you're right. We normally play with Clark and Alleyn up front, Riley lurking behind and Morris whizzing up and down the wing. presumably the recent experiments were intended to get the defence to play in the traditional manner, that is, trying to stop the opposition score goals. It's more fun when we don't care if we leak goals like a sieve so long as we score more!
