The Eagles, told ya....

Recommended Posts

Well, the last time I was here I spoke a good game. I did mention a request to watch out for a result on saturday.......We won by loads again (one of our 2 strikers in the ryman prem top 10 strikers)Kevin Slinn Hatrick. Will the rest of the 'talking a good game' still raise a smile?
Can't wait until saturday We are going to bring fcuknig loads to the canvey, this will be a great game. smile.gif" border="0 smile.gif" border="0 smile.gif" border="0 smile.gif" border="0 smile.gif" border="0 smile.gif" border="0

A bit stressed out I reckon, awkward couple of games aproaching against teams who although pasionate about the game haven't really got to much pressure to beat them. The Canvey on the other hand must be looking to take maximum points with your boys breathing down their necks.
And JT, win lose or draw on saturday, there will be loads of people, loads of singing and loads of football. Chill my friend..... wink.gif" border="0

oooh missus everyone getting hyped up for the Bedford v Canvey match - no surprise to see carjam lending his support to Bedford as you would expect.
Personally - and I know that counts for nothing - I see Bedford as a sort of Ipswich - poor start - signs of a revival and then slipping back into old ways.
I could be out of step with the rest of you(!!) but I'm still going for a Canvey GNFC, Aldershot - 1,2,3

Haven't you noticed Mr Irony - we have slipped back into our old ways. Our old ways are winning ways. Beware!
No, you're right - what I've just written even made me laugh. I don't fancy our chances much but we'll certainly come and give it a go.

--------------Personally - and I know that counts for nothing - I see Bedford as a sort of Ipswich - poor start - signs of a revival and then slipping back into old ways.--------------
Mr Irony, Ironic that we here at Bedford also see your Brainflakes as a sort of Ipswich:- An excellent first season in the prem, higher than all expectation but an obviously lucky first season and one which will not be able to be repeated, I think as in Ipswich's case you will be involved in a relegation dogfight next season.
Bedford on the other hand prefer progresive, longer term building for success as has been showed in recent years. We will let the big clubs run and run until they become tired and start to faulter then we seize the day.

Crikey my folically challenged friend from somewhere north of Luton what u say about your beloved Eagles and their progress is exactly what i've been claiming about Iron. No doubt you've been down to Cressing Road and seen what a nice stadium we've developed, how our progress has been un spectacular, our promotions coming from second or third position etc. The interesting statistic of the past 12 years is we have had promotion 4 times, not one reversal and yep compare us to Ipswich they are a club with pedigree, produced two of Englands most successful managers, been premier league champions (before it was the premier league), FA cup and UEFA cup winners as well. They look good for an extended run in the premier under Burley. I think they are a club to be admired, but then Ipswich are my club.

I agree with Heeps taking a penalty, but I reckon it smashes against the crossbar and high into the air. It will be very windy on Saturday, especially coming in off the sea-wall. The ball will be whisked, by the wind, to the other end of the field where your 'keeper makes a complete dog's breakfast of it and it goes into the net for an OG from a penalty.
Further prediction: the ref laughs so much that he falls over and sprains his ankle.
Merv CIFC
BTW You've even got the time wrong. It will be in the 78th minute.

Sorry Andy, still got the old link in my favourites, still gets me there ok.
Anyway are you not being a little conservative in suggesting we will only score the 1 ??????? I mean we have scored 16 in our last 5 games
Got it in the bag I reckon........

Guess this must be a prediction saga. Sorry the real event, Heeps is our goal keeper, when he takes a penalty kick the other 10 men stand on our goal line clapping because they know he knows how to beat a fellow glove merchant.

Hi again Bald Eagle Venegoor of Hesselelink, yer sorry about that but you got to give these guy's at Canvey some credit as in all the teams that played us this season they were the best by far, which does include G&N even though they scored more against us (we were pretty naff that day). Anyway we on form and up for it. grin.gif" border="0
[ 04 March 2002: This message was edited by: AndyS of Bedfordeagles On The Net ]

Yes and so were the Fleet. Plus you are our old SL friends and sleeping giants. 1957 it was, anybody remember it. The Fleet won the Southern League Championship, but only just. Bedford were runners up. Time to wake up on Saturday.
CarJam

Were you really there Carjam? And to think you sound so young! Like Simon, I was at a very negative age.
I remember yhe Eagles winning the Southern League cup final against Bognor in about 1980 but before that not much at all. It was the stories of long ago trips to places like Highbury and Newcastle that got me interested. The reawakening started in the park in 1989 - it's just taken a while for anyone to notice but even Mr Hansen spotted us this year in the cup.
We'll be as awake as we can be on Saturday - certainly more awake than we were a month or so ago.

I only went to 4 eagles games back in the day at our old ground in Queens Park, dragged along by my old man (at 5 you have no choice) Thank god he did otherwise I may have been interested only in knitting/cross dressing/etc.....(No offence intended JT smile.gif" border="0 smile.gif" border="0 smile.gif" border="0 smile.gif" border="0 smile.gif" border="0 )
Bald Eagle, I dont know if you are aware of a really neat book titled 'Eyrie Roar Memories of BTFC 1919-1966' Being too young to realise our history I decided to get myself a copy and it is excelent, fills in a few of those gaps. However I have scanned it for info on G&N and sadly no mention.
CarJam, we will just have to take your word on it.
