Carjam was it the Southern league championship, Gravesend won in 1957? Or the second division championship. The earliest i recall of Bedford was around 1968 when our school sports teacher Geoffrey Pye who had just transferred to Bedford from being Chelmsford city reserve keeper. He showed us photos of the ground incl a long stand along oneside of the ground with Bedford painted on the roof. I also recall Pye saying they were in the second division and he went there as he'd be first team keeper. I realise a lot can happen in 11 years in this game - Just wondering.

Corr there’s some trips down memory lane here. My mum reckons 57 was a good year, maybe because that’s the year I was born guess she’s biased. My earliest awakens were going to see Everton play at the Eyrie in the F.A. Cup with my parents along with another 18000+ fans that day, we lost that day to the eventual winners if my memory serves me right. (Well I was only small, come to think about it not much bigger now) still we’ve got along way to go to see those sort of crowds again, pipe dream I suppose. Our Stats man on our site found this little ditty of the old Eyrie Iron Knob http://www.mikefloate.clara.co.uk/progpics.htm it’s about the right era. Well Carjam guess we’ve woken up and all our fans are really looking forward to it as of Monday the supporters coach was just about full we usually at least double that in cars etc we have been know to take 200ish (Peterborough was an exception took 1700) Look out Canvey Alan Hanson’s favourite Mark Paul is coming to town. I’m sure our Chat Room may be busy for a change Friday night see you there www.bedfordeagles.net

Iron Knob, it was the SL Championship. The one and only time that Gravesend were proven to be the best team outside of the football league. Althouh the Northern League champions may have had something to say on that one.
Andy S.

Thats a nice site. Visited several of those stadiums.
Car Jam
