11 Years to the Day!

Bobby Moore was not only a great player who knew his limitations(one footed and slow), but was a great Tactician. Sir Alf Ramsey went on record to say that the tactics used in the 66 world cup had as much to do with Bobby as it did to do with himself.

To think that Bobby nearly didn't play in the World Cup as he was out of contract with West Ham. Only intervention by Ramsey, telling Ron Greenwood to sign Bobby at all costs, or he would be held personally responsible(and Ramsey threatened to go public)for England jeopardising their chances of winning.

..and considering he had a rather serious health condition, the man was as stoic and collected as they come. That last pass in the 66 final, the one up to Hurst - everyone in the defence was shouting to Bobby "Boot it out boot it out!!" - but calm as you like, he picked Hursty out with that lovely pass, and voila - "it was all over!!"

More like him please, instead of the whinging, overpaid premadonas we see nowadays.
