Does anyone else feel that it's a shame that Matt Lee seems to have been frozen out of the team in recent weeks?

 

I felt he had a good start to the season and played as well as a lot of others but the combination of a couple of nightmare games and the signings of Gledhill and Protheroe have cost him his place.

 

Given the choice, I'd rather see him on the subs bench than Duku as he could provide cover for either full back or in the centre of defence - all positions he's filled at some time or other this season.

Obviously Andy pick the team as he sees it but I agree that Matt has proved he is a good player at this level and I hope he gets another chance.

Matt's been in a very loyal, improved and consistent player over the last few years and I agree with Smithyman about him being on the bench, but I guess it's a sign of progress that players like Gledhill and Protheroe are freezing him out of the team.

 

It also begs the question that if Andy makes a few more additions to the squad in the close season, we may have to let players of Conference standard go - the likes of Matt Lee, Rob Haworth, Pat Gradley, Eddie McClements, Louis Evans, etc, must all be candidates for release if our squad/wage bill gets bigger.

You're right Stu - Andy will want to try to strengthen the squad and unfortunately that'll mean losing some players who have shown they are good enough to play in the Conference and have been loyal to the club. His difficulty is not having a repeat of the wholesale changes he had at the start of this season when I'm sure we dropped a load of points just because the players weren't used to each other.
