Madrid Bombings

Recommended Posts

Like most civilised people, I was upset, angry, etc when I read the paper this morning. Yet another waste of human life perpetrated by morons and their evil causes. Don't anyone tell me the people that carry out these acts are any better than the likes of Ian Huntley, Dr Shipman, etc

Could it happen here in London, who knows? One theroy is that a "big bang" in London would also take out many Muslim people that live here so maybe not. However im not sure the people who carry out these barbaric acts really care about that. They will tell the families of their own dead that they died for the cause. What f*$king cause, who's f$*cking cause.

Ok many people are p&ssed off with Bush and Blair, but come on, Sept 11th, Bali, were all before Iraq. I reckon they would have still happened if Mother Therisa had been president of the US.

Having read my paper, I walked along the road to work, only to see posters for next weeks anti-war demo. Fine if people still want to demonstrate it's up to them, but what about a demo by all people in this country (and around the world)who just want to get along in peace together whatever their faith or colour, a demo against the terrorist. Come on Socialist Worker etc, support that type of demo if you have the guts to.

I wrok with people from all backgrounds, most of us get on fine, we don't make religion a dividing factor. For example, I would like to see all fair minded Muslims in this Country, join a demo against terrorism, put their money where there mouth is.

Does any right minded person in the world want to continue to live in a world of fear?

There has always been a conflict between the majority who just want to live peacefully with everyone else and a minority who want to force through some agenda by violent means. The violent minority has always found ways to force the silent majority into joining wars.

The question 'Could it happen in London?' should not be restricted to the conflict between Islam and the rest of the World, even if that is the main conflict at the moment. The Spanish government assumed the bombs yesterday were the work of E.T.A. before there was evidence of Muslims being involved. Are the I.R.A. bombs history, or has this conflict been resolved?

Unfortunately, many people want to increase the element of living in fear, and, although they are a tiny minority and to our way of thinking they are not right minded, they are able to increase the element of fear by organising mass murders such as yesterday's in Madrid.

There have been big peace demos similar to the one suggested in Northern Ireland. They did not stop the violence, but perhaps they were successful in reducing it.

Good subject !

Personally, I don't think ETA are in any way responsible. As much as I detest terrorism, I have to say this attack is not The Basque's style.

Bin Liner's followers almost without a doubt !

mm i reckon its ETA or a faction of.. its unfortunatly a near perfect job.. and it would be very difficult for a organisation like al Q to pull that of in a country like spain where they would have trouble blending in.. sure we are all guessing at the moment but my money is on a splinter groupand the main ETA people are panicing at the scale of whats been done.. dont underestimate the strength of feeling amongst the basques sepratisits

Usually E.T.A. are only too happy to claim responsibility for their actions. They are trying very hard to distance them selves from this bombing. Even the Spanish Government are keeping an open mind. In the past E.T.A have gone for people in Official posts or small explosions in tourist spots.....this is totally out of Character, and supposedly the Government have had a claim from an Arab Organisation!

Youngest daughter and two grand-children lived in Spain last summer with her partner, when ETA set off two bombs. Basque's normally issue a warning, and only place bombs where maximum disruption can be caused with the minimum of injury !

Most of her Spanish friends seem to treat ETA as a bit of a joke.

I personally think this is too big and too well planned for them.

Spain has many immigrants from North Africa.

Also, in 1492, Fernando and Ysabela wrested away control of the last vestige of Al-Andalus from the Moors, and Muslims became the victims of one of the most vicious examples of ethnic cleansing in human history. However, Cardinal Jiménez converted many Moors by peaceful means, and some of their descendants may look similar to al Qaida members.

I was saying that, although Madrid is much more Catholic than London, many of the Catholics are actually descendants of Muslims.

I have never lived in Madrid. So I don't really know how community based it is, but when I visited Madrid last year, there was a lot of building work going on, which suggests that many people who are not members of the communities in Madrid may be moving there.

The demonstrations must have given the relatives of the dead and injured a slight boost, knowing that so many people's thoughts are with them.

However, the demo will do no good, because terrorists have no compassion or respect for human life.
