Will be a tough game today. Sutton lost at home to Maidenhead last week but have generally been in good form. I think the lads will be wanting to prove that Tuesday's dissapointing display was just a temporary blip.

Good Luck Canvey...and YA! Remember to sing "Yellow Army", not "Come on you Urchins!"

No comment from me on today's perfomance. Were I to write my honest thoughts on various performances I witnessed today and dare to tell the truth about the team selection, I would certainly be banned from Park Lane - again.

Same here Merv. That performance was a disgrace. I don't mind if that was just a one off but let's face it against Grays we were s..t.

We ponced around like a load of fairies, there was no work rate. Hornchurch and Hendon must be f..king laughing at us!

We can't just go out and win games. Credit to Sutton, they are a decent young team and played really well. Their keeper made some fine saves and they battled and worked hard. Well done to them and they deserved to beat us.

You could argue we had no luck and the referee was poor but that would be masking the fact we were total crap.

I will not single out individual players because that is not fair but some performances today were complete and utter toilet (I also don't want to be set upon by a player in the bar, EFM style)

So not the end of the world and maybe I'm overreacting but I feel really pissed off. We are way ahead in the league and this is not a crisis but too many players today thought they could just turn up and win the game easily and for me that is not good enough!

Once again well done Sutton, you deserved it!

Jeff was interviewed by Dick Davies on BBC Essex after the game and Dick put it to Jeff that, on the Day, Sutton were the better side. Jeff totally disagreed and said that he thought Canvey were better and didn't deserve to lose. If you ask me, Dick reads a game better then Jeff!

I thought that bringing Greggers on for Junior and putting Ollie on the right flank, thus pushing Chenners back into defence, was tantamount to an admission of, "I got it wrong." We certainly appeared to be back to something resembling normal once these changes were made.

Perhaps the idea was to put any Telford/Shrewsbury visitors off the scent today. If that is the case, it certainly worked, and after all, we can afford to lose the three points.

Looking at the starting line-up with Chenners in for Duffy I thought we might've made a tactical change and playing 4-4-2.

I.E.

Ward, Theobald, Cowan, Chenery

Kennedy, Protheroe, Minton, Midgley

McDougald, Boylan.

From your comments Merv, I take it this wasn't the case?!

Mind you, like you've said we've dropped 3 points, if my maths is right we can drop another 15 and still win the title, so I don't think anyone should be sweating over today. Perhaps it was the throw scouts of the scent a bit or an off day, but it's only the 3rd League game we've lost all season.

Yep, Chenners had a shocker today but then again so did most of the team. Just beginning to calm down.

At the end of the day it was dissapointing to see our 27 match unbeaten run end in such a pitiful fashion but that was definitely our worst performance since Bishop Stortford and that was so bad somebody got banned after that!

The only time I've left a Canvey match before the final whistle as I really didn't want to stay till the end and I was growing angrier and more frustrated by the second.

If there was a swearbox for that game I would have had to contribute more money than Roman Abramovich has got!

I'm really tempted to buy the video of the game. it would have to be 18 rated or the sound cut just to block out my swearing!

There was more swearing than an Oasis concert!

Well at least we can laugh!

Chenners played right wingback and Midgley left wingback. No 4-4-2.

Midgely's started doing a bit better lately I feel. Chenners seems to be moving too far forward, and crossing to the keeper / fans too much. I also can't comment on todays game, as I dont even want to have to think back to it, just to hope it sorts itself out. Well done Sutton!

Nice to see some positive comments giving us credit, cheers Canvey.

Thought we could have got two or three in the first half but once you'd equalised I thought that was it.

On balance we took enough of our chances and defended well enough - our keeper had to be man of the match otherwise I could've seen it being 4 all!

Good luck in the conference next season.

Don't worry Canv....every team has an off day...it's just that you lot aint seen many of them this year!!-lol

Gosh, Horror!! Canvey have lost 3 league games this season.....ah rollox....I think you'll cope.

Did Sutton play in that lovely yellow and brown strip of theirs?

That's enough to put anyone off!!

Unlucky lads.

Lets not blame Chenners, what the F**K was he doing playing right wing back in the first place, and why drop Gregory against a team that have won 10 times away from home this season, sorry team selection went a big way in us getting beaten today.Im all in favour of giving the squad players a game against some of the bottom teams but lets face it Mcdougald has never really shone when he has played in place of Greggors,he just doesnt seem to have any understanding with Boylan like Greggors has and he is too lightweight.I thought Dobbo would have been better today on the right but it was a big mistake moving Chennery.

Dick Davies on Essex Radio asked Jeff King-your not seriously suggesting that you deserved to win today?

Jeff replied -Why not?

and he accused the players a while back of not winning the league because of arrogance!

Lets face it we havent played the kind of football that we are use to for quite some time,is it because we have had it that easy that even against the decent teams we think that we just have to turn up to win?

And to top it all what was Jeff and Glen doing when we were 3-1 down?

thats right, having a laugh and joke on the touchline.

Somethings never change!

Cheers for the kind words gents.

Quite glad we tuned into TalkSport on the way home now!

Was a tadge surprised that once the score was 1-1, that you didn't really go for us. We were concerned that with that wind, we'd get mullered in the 2nd half!

PS. BTW, tell 'big' Jeff that todays score was officially Sutton(Canvey) 1 Sutton 3 hehe!

Good luck in the Conference next season guys.

We've had a few average performances recently, and yesterday wasn't really too bad.

When we equalised I thought it was going to open the floodgates but a few unfortunate penalty incidents changed that.

What I was confirmed for me was that Lee & Junior can't play together up front. It was the same at Billericay, both need someone to hold the ball up and say what you like about Greggers but he does that well.

The worrying thing was that we were weak in the centre of defence, where we are normally very strong. Shows how much we need Chenners.

On the upside, Jeff did change tactics mid game very well, but I reckon to prosper in the Conference we need 4-4-2 .
