Penalties, But The Right Result

Recommended Posts

Thank god that went right for us at the end there. Not sure about others thoughts about us just shading it, we were the only football team out there today. What did Telford really produce throughout the whole match. They were only going to score from something like a set piece and they did twice. We were awesome!

It was great to see in the second half that we played the ball in their half and did not use many long balls as the wind would of taken the ball away from our attackers. What must the Telford fans thought seeing their team get played off the park like that?

Funny bit in the first half was when Wardy needed attention from some Telford “afters”. As he came off on the side, he gave this grin and knowing look which made us roll up as he wasn’t that badly hurt. Great how he came back out at the end with a can of lager in his hand as the last of us were filtering out.

I’d expect some of Telford say “the ref was bad, or we did not play that well” but again in truth like 3 years ago, the conference teams could not contain us.

On today’s performance and if we become only a little stronger, looks like we may have to call upon Anneka Rice to get our stadium built in time for league football season 05/06!

Well done boys and let’s do it again on 23rd May.

1st McDougald

2nd Minton

3rd Boylan

4th Gav Cowan

Lee Boylan scored our two goals obviously and what crackers there were! Did the second one hit the post and then hit the other post and go in?

Never seen Boylan take free kicks before but maybe he should take them more often!

I was surprised when he was by the ball and not in the box. Went in straight as a "die" like a rocket. Can't see a problem with him taking them in future. Be interesting how a defending wall lines up. If we can see a piece of their goal then its worth Boyly smashing one in, otherwise its a curler but can he do those as well?

I thought we dominated for long periods today and were the better team by far.

Have just been on Telfords Forum and again those two words hit you straight in the face BAD LOSERS!!!

They are blaming everything except there own teams inability --- It's a [****!!****] ground, The referee, The toilets, The burgers didn't have onions, The police escort, The Canvey supporters wearing Man United shirts, The home fans that didn't sing!

Such a sad bunch, my feelings of sympathy for their situation is fading very rapidly!!

Heard it all before! Sour grapes! Telford battled well and looked strong defensively but the only way they were going to score today was from a set piece and they did that twice!

What's people's opinions on Junior and Chenners? Chenners got a lot of abuse from several people behind me for his performance. Defensively he was strong as ever but his distribution really lets him down.

Junior at times didn't look interested and I really can't see him being at the club next season.

Agree about Junior he had a poor game but at least he put his penalty away. Was Gregory on the subs bench as I didnt see him there?

Let the Telford fans whinge who cares we have beaten them twice now and hopefully do them again in the conference.

I thought the ref had a good game he tried to play the advantage whenever he could. Far better than some of the refs we get in the Ryman who seem to lose control of most of the games.

Gregory wasn't named as a Sub, which I thought was surprising considering he'd been declared fit.

But I suppose as the team did well at Telford, if it wasn't broke don't fix it and it worked.

Believe that Greggors failed a fitness test before the match.

Everyone sees the game differently but I thought that Junior had one of his better games today. In the last month or so, its great to see Midgely find some pace and understanding out there on the right which has led to better options.

To be honest, our distribution from the back is quite poor at times but whether someone in midfield should becoming back to pick the ball up and start from there, as Stimson used to.

Doesn’t surprise me about thoughts on the Telford site after reading some of the garbage posted by the site administrators. Funny that, most of the time these conf teams seem to have an off day against Canvey!
