Whilst their team certainly appears good enough for the Conference, the same certainly cant be said for their fan base - particularly if they do indeed go full time. Only just over 1400 yesterday for the semi final of the Trophy, when the tie was level after the first leg, and they were playing Conference opposition.

We all know that the Trophy isnt considered the greatest Non League Competiion, but even allowing for this, the attendance was dreadful - cant believe we would get less than 2000 for a Trophy Semi Final.

Funny enough when reading the report in the NLP that was the first thing i thought when i saw the attendance,i would not bet against them struggling next year when you think of some of the teams there are,as we all know that first season is hard, and also it was good to see protheroe was'nt playing again so we still stand a chance.

They will no doubt have the discipline problem that all teams seem to have their first year in the Conference.

The other thing that will be interesting is to see how the squad budgeting rules affect them. To keep within the rules, Kingy will have to put approximately 4 times the wage bill as either sponsorship or by the issue of shares.

Remember everyone that this time of year there are only about 1,500 people actually resident on the island.

If only they could play their games in the summer, they would have about 20,000 drunk east enders, on day trips supporting them !

And, if the 1,500 was a "head count" there may have been less actual people there, what with all mutations due to the banjo country practices which exist on the island !

Oh what fun it will be visiting our old Essex friends again - lets hope they've improved there electrics since last time !
