Canvey

Recommended Posts

Just 3 points required now for Canvey - the only side who can still finish above them - incredibly - is Hendon , of all teams and I guess their ground isnt Conference standard anyway??

In the Unibond, Barrow are now 8 points off Droylesden, who are second, with a game in hand. It is beginning to look like they will struggle to catch Droylesden - in which case, only the bottom 2 in the Conference will go down. Still wont be a bad situation for us, though - Leigh & Northwich down - Canvey & (almost certainly) Crawley up - will certainly be good to reduce our travelling, and increase the number of "local" games.

Any number of teams could still be relegated from Division 3 - I think Southend will probably survive, so the next best teams to come down , for us, would be Kidderminster, Cambridge, Cheltenham and Bristol Rovers - we certainly want Carlisle to survive, and given that they are only 5 points off safety with 6 games left, thats not impossible.

Just for the record boys and girls, Paul Gibbs' Gravesend registration was cancelled in January after he failed to turn up for training or contact the club while he served his original three match ban over Christmas (Woking, Margate and Margate)

Now whether the disciplinary committe actually talk to the registration department of the FA is anybody's guess, but at the end of the day it's not our problem and if the FA said it was alright then they can hardly now turn around and take the points away can they.

The worst they can do is tell Canvey that he still has x number of games to serve, depending upon whether he was registered in time to play in the trophy games. (FF he isn't cup-tied unless he played for someone else)

Our only concern is that this ban isn't taken into account when the FA review our disciplinary record at deciding about the £10,000 suspended fine.

Now officially promoted after 2-1 win at Thurrock this afternoon.

Congratulations guys - well deserved after all your recent near misses - all you've got to do now to become more popular is , firstly get rid of Mr King, and secondly, to move the ground from Essex !!

Attendance was only 1003 !! I think there were almost that many of us alone at Bedford when we got promoted !! ( and their place wasnt 5 minutes away either)
