Miles and miles......

Recommended Posts

That is an impressive total - presumably you drive up from the west country to watch your favourite team.
I've just used AutoRoute to calculate my actual driving to away games this season, starting and finishing on Canvey. The total is 3,223 miles.
This includes return travel to Halesowen (328 miles), Wigan (480 miles), Burnley (272 miles only as I only drove half the journey, Ian did the rest), Grantham (274 miles) and Yeovil (356 miles).
I haven't even thought about how I am going to get to all those Conference grounds next season. Have you seen the locations?
conference_map.gif
Merv CIFC

Add Halifax to the list, as they have been relegated to the Conference.
Hopefully Boston will go up, and then at least you will still have Dagenham down here. (Sorry Daggers fans - although I see from the results page above, you are winning, and Boston are drawing tonight)
Otherwise it is going to be mainly Northern teams.
Wealdstone Fan

It's a 260 mile round trip for a home match! Didn't count Christmas as came home to visit family (the fact that we had two home games was purely conincidental!) Season could be at a premature end as my motor's just failed it's MOT....
The travelling in the conference will be worse as it looks as though 3 southern based teams will drop - Dover, Hayes and Woking occupy the bottom 3 at the moment - the number of Northern clubs will therefore increase...

Well Merv after last nights result you may not have to worry about the locations of Conference grounds! Its out of Canveys hands now though it could still go either way with both teams slipping up recently. The attendance wasn't bad 1076, bit more than Canvey would get for a game with Hampton who, with all due respect to them, are hardly the biggest crowd puller in Ryman Prem. Their team did well though despite having only pride to play for they pushed G&N all the way, a goal in the 90th minute won it, bit of a sickner for Canvey!!

A good win in front of a good crowd. Congratulations.
At least the title will be decided on the pitch this season and not on a) ground grading or B) trying to fit 15 games into 20 days. On that basis the best team will win although, let's be fair, these two teams have run away with it this season and it's a shame only one can go up.
If it's G&N in 1st position on the last day of the season, (that is the only day it counts, after all) I will be first here with sincere congratulations.
My wife will also be happy that I won't be setting off at the crack of dawn every other Saturday.
May the best of the two best teams win.
Merv CIFC

They presumably changed their name so that people would know where they are, but it doesn't quite seem to have worked. They have won the Middlesex Senior Challenge Cup ten times, underlining the fact that they don't play in Kent.
