Farnborough/relegation

Recommended Posts

I Found this, and it looks like they have got out of jail.

Farnborough handed reprieve 21 Apr

Farnborough Town have been handed two pieces of good news despite finishing in the bottom three of the Nationwide Conference.

Barrow's failure to beat Alfreton Town means that Town will not be relegated while the Football Stadia Improvement Fund has agreed to hand the club a grant of almost £400,000 for ground improvements.

Barring a change in Conference rules, no club will be promoted from the UniBond League this season.

Barrow's defeat means they will finish third in the table, behind Hucknall Town and Droylsden.

The grounds of the top two teams are not up to Conference standard and although Barrow's is, finishing third is not good enough to secure promotion.

Sounds like the Old Pals act to me!

Not too sure really -- I think that should try to stick to relegating the bottom 3 .

But you can see the problem as why should someone finishing third in the unibond get promoted ( Seeing as the top 2 did not apply to join the conference ) , when the runners up in the DML and Rymans miss out.

Now play offs between Farnboro , Barrow, Weymouth and whoever finish behind Canvey, could have been the win win solution.
