The departing threesome.

prothers is a tricky call .. he isnt fast enough to be a full back in 442.. midfield is his slot out wide with crosses and of course his great free kicks .. i reckon he works best in 352 but he is so adaptable he can cover anything on the right hand side and is good enough to play in the middle as well, as and when needed.

Alan W (GNFC) said:Mind you, it does mean we're short on back up for Roy and Pinno ( I guess you could include Drury amongst potential front men as well) and I just hope we get replacements in place before the new season, unlike this year where we suffered from a lack of a good forward in the first few months.

Correct Alan - I posted my own concerns about letting forwards go before having replacements for them higher up this thread, and the departure of Rob Haworth has only increased my fears. As previously mentioned, though, Andy may well have replacements in mind, and I certainly hope so. To be honest, unless Andy obtains someone really special as a replacement for Rob, it seems likely that he will be fulfilling the role that Rob looked likely to - i.e. as back-up for Roy. Considering that Rob looked a good player for us and scored a few goals, I'm surprised he isn't being retained to be Roy's deputy. Having said that, there may always be factors such as player dissatisfaction that we don't know about. Best of luck for the future Rob.

As for Proths, you're quite right to mention his excellent crossing ability, Slarti, and that is something Andy must consider when picking his team. Having said that, wherever he plays we will still have the benefit of his set-pieces - he must have set up three or four goals for Mooro from free-kicks and corners in his short time with us.

Maybe he wants first team action at whatever level & not to be just 'Roy's deputy'?

Players are a funny breed, wanting to play in games. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
