How 5 idiots can ruin a discussion board

Seems a shame that the season appears to have ended on something of a sour note. But whatever it was that happened after the game yesterday, it seems to have been taken up and adopted as something of a campaign by just five Hornchurch fans who have posted so much rubbish on this board that most sensible fans have simply refused to join in with the puerile tosh that has been written.

Urchin Boy, Hornchurch Boys, urchinboys, The Hornchurch and Psycho Monkey – just five of them - have written so many jibes, digs and insults that I knew it wouldn’t be long before similarly intellectually challenged fans from Gravesend and Billericay joined in. But there is so little sense in any of the hundreds of words they have written between them that the sum of the various postings smacks of poor losers rather than any serious or genuine complaint against either the Canvey fans or the stewards.

I saw a large group of youngsters (12 – 16yrs?) who, being egged on by older fans, decided to start behaving in a threatening and intimidating way as they passed those waiting outside the clubhouse. Instead of the older fans telling the youths to calm down and sort out potential problems themselves, they seemed to encourage them. Boosted by this support the insults and intimidation got worse and there was danger of things getting out of hand and so the stewards had little option but to get these troublemakers out of the ground. On the other hand, those Hornchurch fans who were only interested in having a drink and not causing trouble were drinking and chatting well after 6:00pm when I left the ground. One of them even apologised to me and my drinking pals for the few troublemakers from Hornchurch.

Of the 911 people at the game it seems that over 900 of them had an great afternoon and enjoyed the game (whether winners or losers). Then five of them decided to bring the level of their club down to gutter level by posting such a load of childish rubbish on this normally erudite discussion board. Shame.

Hornchurch have had a terrific season, having come from virtually nowhere a few seasons ago, and now making a serious challenge on the league. To talk about cheating is such nonsense; how can you take anything these five say with any seriousness? If they go through their lives assuming that referees are biased every time a decision goes against them, they are going to have a very sad time watching football. What Canvey have achieved this season is seen by most intelligent observers as terrific. It can’t all be down to good luck and poor referees. If anyone wants to discuss cheats, lets talk about the way Hornchurch’s first goal was helped into the net with an elbow!

If anyone disagrees with me, let them put a few serious sentences together that make valid points and offers sensible points for discussion. Keep the ‘nah, nah, yaboo, sucks’ type of posting for their own discussion board and lets get this one back to a more intellectual level.

Well I personally would calm down, take a few paces back and review it all in my head before jumping to any wild ideas. If I were assaulted by a steward, I would have to think of what reason they had for doing it and/or if I could've avoided getting into the situation in the first place. If I could've walked away without kicking up a fuss, I would've done so rather than shoot my gob off and dig myself a bigger hole with opposing fans/stewards/officials.

If you looked at it honestly and thought, "Yeah I was partly to blame for being too excited etc, etc." Then I would do nothing about it, as the steward would've had every right to see the need to eject me from the ground using whatever powers they're granted by the club. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Well We Walked Past Two Stewards Who Were By The Team Door Saying A Few Words About Canvey Next Season No Offense Intentional, We Were All Just A Little Wound Up After The Poor Performacne Of The Referee.

Then An Incident Happened I Was Just Standing There Waiting To Get In To The Club House When An Incident Occurs ! I Pull My Mate Out Of An Argument And Tell Him To Calm Down Then All Of A Sudden I'm Grabbed By One Of The Men Who Were Standing By The Team Door. He Grabs My Arm With Force He Then Tells Me To Get Out The Stadium, I Start To Walk He Swings His Elbow Back Delibratley To Hit Me In The Face And Tells Me To Walk Faster. Apparently I Started All The Trouble !

What Do You Class That As Matt CIFC ?

Hoorah! Some intelligent points of view at last.

If UB was assaulted without any provocation, i.e. he was walking around the stadium, doing nothing and minding his own business when suddenly, and for no reason, a steward pounced on him, he has a valid complaint. Presumably he can identify the steward and with hundreds of people walking past there will be loads of witnesses. I wouldn't bother with the Chairman of the club or the league. I would be straight onto the police. And why wait until Tuesday? The cop shop is open 24/7. It's really a question of put up or shut up.

If, on the other hand, Matt has hit the nail smack on the head, it would be best to follow his very sound advice and put it down to experience. He will find that it is unwise to go giving it large in the faces of the home fans throughout the football pyramid. They may find insults and jeering good fun in the Hornchurch clubhouse but, IMO, that would be the exception rather than the rule. Try it at Aldershot or Wealdstone.

Now, anyone else want to add a sensible comment or opinion without insult, abuse or offence. It's not that difficult.

Well it's either an unprovoked assault and you involve the police. Or it wasn't and you leave it at that as the Stewards were following the rules set down by the Club.

To be honest i think it's time to put this issue to bed. Whats the point in going over the same old bollox over and over again. It's time for a few people from both sides of the fence to grow up.....and Merv I was one of the HX fans who did stay behind afterwards and enjoyed a few beers with you guy's.

I've kept out of all the previous crap what has been posted and just thought to myself enough is enough.....ok I've said my bit....now i'm off for a beer...

enjoy

Agree with Bridge. We need to put this matter to an end. I don't think discussing it on these forums is the right thing to do or the right place to do it.
