.....and I feel that it needs to be said. In one of the closed Hornchurch match threads I was described (I presume as I was one of those who posted) as 'the intellectually challenged fans from Gravesend'. I would just like to point out a few facts;

1) That description is wrong as I attended a very good school.
2) That I wasn't aware of the incidents that occured when I made my post & promptly stopped posting afterwards.
3) My post was actually a popular song from The Fleet and at the time of posting I was merely posting just that - the words you'll hear from us next season.

Now sorry if anybody was offended but I wish to make it clear that Gravesend fans should not be included in the aftermath of whatever went on in your game against Hornchurch. It seems that my posts were assumed to be some form of participation in the antagonistic comments from certain Hornchurch elements. They were not & I didn't intend to be tarred with the same brush.

Anyway - enough of that - see you next season (& keep the floodlights on this time)!

Darren

What's footie without a bit of friendly rivalry. No apology necessary, I'm sure. We'll just take it in points next season.

I'm amazed at what Merv wrote...put all the forum insults down to Hornchurch when, from what I was reading, there were some Canvey supporters joining in....Even had a swipe at Fleet and 'Ricay supporters (myself), when all we were doing was having a bit of fun and banter...And then praised people for "an intelligent post"...Jeez, in Merv's world, Canvey won University Challenge!!!

Does this happen when you become champions of the Ryman...you become blinkered and lack a sense of humour? Or does looking down your nose at us, mere mortals, really become that tiresome?

And what was that slanderous comment about Gary Hill? (I won't repeat it 'cos it is slanderous) Can't be a Canvey supporter...must've been someone pretending.

Ah well, can't be champions and even handed eh? Must be difficult to chat to us ordinary people who have yet to tread those heady hights.

Enjoy yourselves next season won't you and please, forget your roots....

Nope, it is the oil "refinary" on the island. Horrible. Used to have a girlfriend on the island many years ago...stank then.

That fact the Oil Refinery is in fact in Corringham and not on Canvey I suppose has nothing to do with it. <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> There is a small creek of water between here and there.
