Can someone remind me/us as to what TIME this meeting will be taking place, with whom and where exactly. If the time can be established then I suggest we all cross our fingers from that time and keep them crossed for at least an hour.Perhaps a prayer or to to the almighty be worth a go too from each of us.Think with this councils attitude we are going to need all the help we can muster.

A lot of talk in past months, both in Kent and in the Conference as whole, has been about the survival of Margate F.C. Rumours have been rife, but generally the true facts from the Conference officials, the club and to a lesser degree Thanet Council, have been open and informative. However, things do not seem to be all they're supposed to be.

The Conference has stood back and watched the outcome of the negotiations between the club and the Council. Only commenting when any rules and regs. needed clarifying. Margates board of directors have been, shall I say niave or blinkered, concerning the original construction company, the financial backing, or lack of, the new ground. And their over optimistic plans for an all purpose sports centre. Obstacles have been repeatedly placed in their way, some of their own making. The Conference have laid down rules, but they apply to all the Conference members. The main propagator of obstacles it seems has been Thanet Council. Time and time again they seem to have used any possible delaying tactic to tie up Margate F.C. in red tape. Hoping that the longer their plans take, that the Conference will step in and make a decision. They would be seen as the caring, helpful local authority, doing it's best to help. Whilst the nasty old Conference would be seen as 'waving the big stick'. Relegating the club to who knows what level, or worst still, the club folding and never being heard of again. Ulterior motive, definitely. Why? This Thanet Council just don't want a loutish, noisy football club bringing down the area, can't upset the voters.

Credit to the club throughout all this they have kept going and not given up, and my thoughts will be with them all tomorrow. Everything I can cross will be duly crossed.

Don't it always seem to go, you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone.

They paved over Thanet and put up a Westwood Cross

(Apologies to Joni)

Dave's right JohnKirbChe, whether it's lighthearted banter or absolute loathing, between us - there is more to this than meets the eye. As the saying goes, 'There is something rotten in the State of Denmark'. Or in this case the Borough of Thanet. I wasn't passing remarks about Margate F.C. or it's supporters, the same could be said against any club or any sport. There does, however, seem to be another agenda concerning Thanet Council. Any reasonable authority would I'd of thought, relaxed their requirements giving you enough time to come up with a suitable proposal to meet yours, the Conferences and their needs. But, time and time again they have blocked and delayed you at every turn. My saying they don't want a football club in their borough was only a guess, so what is their reason, what do they gain?

Red Neck, you have hit the nail right on the head.

They have never tried to help and in fact have managed to hinder, or spin spoilers in the media every time we have had any good news on progress. The urdure will hit the fan tomorrow in terms of whether they attend the meeting, as requested, and support the club or not. I am not over confident that they will do anything positive.

What their ultimate agenda is will only come out in time. However, the club fights on, I do not know how they keep going under this strain but they are making progress in small incremental steps each time. Whether this will be enough to keep us where we should be I can only hope.

i think the council were hoping to drag this out till the gate run outa time. lets hope there is nothing they an do to pospone this anymore, give the go ahead u know u wanna!

Margate needs the Football club more than the Football club needs Margate.. i think thats what the council forget.

((incase u dont know there is nothing left in margate for fammilys now) jimmy goddon & the council have destroyed it all) "What u mean we will get a turner center!!!" pmsl

We at Fleet should keep a close eye on the result of the meeting.

We do not own Stonebridge Road - we only lease it.

It is located in the Thames gateway, the most sought after regeneration aera in the South of England. Everyone want's a bit of the land were are on , even Gillingham have made overtures.

The worst case scenario for us is our ground owners doing the dirty, giving us notice, paying us off and kicking us out.

It could feasably happen.

Good luck tommorrow, Margit.

We at Northwich wholeheartedly agree with your opinions of Councils and their attitude towards football clubs. Our planning permission, not for the new ground but houses on our old home, was turned down for ridiculous reasons. The decision was unanimously overturned on appeal, a very costly process for all involved, but this lead to NVFC groundsharing for 2 seasons not one at a unibond ground.

We should have played last season at The Victoria Stadium but instead struggled with much reduced income and falling support, all because of the local council. It is obvious who came off worse from this and it certainly wasnt the council.

These people, especially in a town like Northwich not so much Margate as you have a tourist trade, should realise that the only national publicity the town gets is the classified results and the odd cup run but they don't seem to see this.

I am torn between two outcomes. I desperately want my club to retain it's conference status that we have held for so long especially after building our new ground for just this purpose but I would hate to see Margate suffer at the hands of FOOLS such as councillors who seem intent on destroying local football that so many are so passionate about.

Best of luck for today, but IF it should go wrong, we will keep your conference place warm for you ! <img src="/images/graemlins/achso.gif" alt="" />

A very big day for the club.If the conference do give us the go ahead to continue ground sharing to give us more time to build how will the council react?

Will they continue to tie us up in red tape until we fold or will they step back and give us the chance to move forward as a club?
